My biggest concern with this fight is that I don't want someone else making history on Degale's expense. Not that I don't believe in James' ability, but there is a risk.
You're worried a 50 year old will beat degale

Just proves how great Hopkins is

Nah, don't want to see him fight again. He should've hung em up a decade ago.

Hopkins-degale is a helluva fight to make...

I think hopkins can beat him and snag a 168 belt and retire...

If I'm degale, I want groves, froch, etc before I fight the crusty grandpa

It's bigger than anything he's done to date so who is he to turn it down? Let's not inflate DeGale to be more than he really is.

Hopkins will be weight-drained at 168, his punch resistance will be greatly diminished, he won't have the same strength to be able to man-handle Degale like he does a lot of other opponents so he'll be there to get hit.

Hate to say it but Hopkins is going to get knocked out within 6 to 10 rounds and Degale will be elevated to number one at 168, above Ward. Shame for B-Hop to go out that way, hope he can survive the full 12 but fighting at a disadvantage like that i can't see it happening this time.

                  Great match up though.

Hopkins may lose but he isn't getting stopped..

If anything, deGale with his awkward style is a less powerful n rugged Jean pascal

The key point is that Hopkins will be weight-drained so he won't be the same fighter that we're all used to. Most likely scenario is that he gets stopped.

Pascal was at 175, plus it was years ago. To put it another way - if the fight was at 175, I'd give Hopkins a 50/50 shot to actually beat Degale because Degale isn't typically a 175 fighter so he would be at a disadvantage if it was his first fight at 175. But at 168, going down in weight so being weakened through weight-draining, Hopkins won't be the same fighter, he's got no chance against Degale at 168 IMO.

Weight-draining can have a massive impact on you and at Hopkins age, I think it's going to have a devastating impact. Just look at Dawson vs Ward for example. "Feather-fisted" Ward knocked out Dawson.
