Naw,I'm pretty sure you confusing kovalev for Stevenson. Btw,why doesn't Stevenson fight Artur? They're both in the same division, both haymon fighters, and both fight on pbc. Or is he too busy making 168 fighters come up to 175? It seems like haymons strategy is to get kovalev into a purse bid situation,in which he either breaks his contract with HBO and fights on another network,or is forced to vacate his belt. If haymons fighters really think that they can beat him, they should just accept a big paycheck and fight do the fight on HBO. Or maybe haymon doesn't have that much confidence in Stevenson and Artur.

I do wonder why no noise for Beterbieb vs Stevenson. Way easier to make, plus Stevenson is supposed to be linear champ

Good analysis, Kovalev definitely the best fighter at 175 for the moment, and one of the most exciting fighters to come along in a while. One of the things that makes him good is his team. As long as he stays loyal to his team, he will make lots of money, get lots of glory and hopefully get out of the game in time before being damaged.
Stevenson is 38 and rapidly sliding into obscurity. Kovalev has at least 2-3 more years of good paydays left in him definitely potential to be huge cash cow.

Beterbiev lost the opportunity when he signed with Haymon. He's ducking kovalev. He should fight stevenson for the opportunity to maybe have a purse bid with Kovalev.

              Beterbiev is very intimidating!

Would love to see him vs Andrzej Fonfara, Thomas Oosthuizen or Edwin Rodriguez

Make no sense at all to have Stevenson and Beterbiev (both being undefeated) fight now . It's better to first allow Beterbiev's notoriety to grow from its infancy stage (which it is presently in) . Why risk Stevenson losing to Beterbiev when no one even knows who he is ? Why not instead keep the marketability of Stevenson secure until Haymon and Duva can possibly find middle ground with Stevenson/Kov . The real problem is idiotic promoters like Duva still too willingly to enslave themselves (and their fighters) to one single network (HBO). In this day and age , as scummy as these networks are , how could ANY promoter still be playing the misplaced loyalty game to a network is beyond me . Why is Al Haymon one of the only ones smart enough to not let any one network control him ?

HBO's got nothing to do with it; once Beterbiev gets by his June 12th fight, he's going to be the new top challenger for the IBF, an organization that actually enforces it's mandatories (the WBA's three-belt structure likely doesn't force the fight, and its anyone's guess how the WBO would act)

Fight goes to purse bid, HBO bids against PBC (with PBC expected to have deeper, willing pockets), and Kovalev likely has to vacate, walking out on another meaningful fight.
Sadly I think this is going to be the reality. Kathy Duva has shown her hand. Kovalev is gonna be a punchline on par with Stevenson soon with Duva running his career.

Kinda surprised HBO is willing to keep Kovalev vs random cats at 175, but HBO has always been a fan of impressive KO artists vs lambs being led to slaughter. Fans don't care about competition so much as KO's sometimes. I think the average boxing fan prefers a savage KO vs a no to little hope opponent to a high level competitive fight despite them suggesting otherwise.

It will be a difficult fight to make, you run into the same problems you did for Kovalev vs Stevenson. Having said that, I think GYM and Haymon would be more willing to let Beterbiev go to HBO (more so than Stevenson). Or maybe they'll position Beterbiev to be mandatory (he will already be for the IBF) and let it go to purse bid, forcing Kovalev to vacate since Duva doesn't want him out of HBO.
I'm a big fan of both (more so Beterbiev) and I know Beterbiev needs more experience as a pro (at least one more year). He doesn't want to go in there against Kovalev without having experienced a few more things as a pro. Beterbiev would be ready for someone like Stevenson in a couple more fights though, imo. But GYM won't allow them to fight, most likely.

I sure want to see it too. I think Kovalev is the better fighter but either guy has a chance with that power.
