Comments Thread For: Brandon Rios' Manager: Brook on 8/29 is Real Possibility

In the wake of Kell Brook's sixth-round stoppage of Frankie Gavin this past Saturday at the O2 Arena in London, promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport spoke openly of the possibility of 'Special K' facing Brandon Rios in the late summer in defense of his IBF welterweight title.

Rios' manager, Cameron Dunkin confirmed to BoxingScene.com on Monday afternoon - "I got an offer this morning about it but I'm waiting to get all the details. But I've been talking to a few people at Top Rank about it."

Not the most legacy-enhacing fight for Brook, but I like it. Guaranteed entertainment.

I don't remember Brook ever saying that. And Rios didn't get put on his arse six times.

But it is what it is. I'm not going to pretend Rios is a great opponent but it ticks boxes for Brook. Name fighter whose put on exciting fights, will be on HBO, will grow his profile in America.

All Khan did by fighting Algieri was lose money, fans and respect. Plus see his stock drop by looking horrendous.

This isn't a bad fight, Rios looked good last time out against Alvarado; granted Mike was smoking crack and got arrested weeks before the fight

Why is Rios even an option?

I also only mention facts, like Khan ****ting himself is something you can prove right hahaha. Nonetheless a credible opponent much better than Dan and Gvin but stylisticlaly not challenging for a good counter puncher like Brook. Rios got dropped on his arse in round 1 and the replay showed it was clear but the ref didnt count it.

Didn't sound like he slated him. Just stated a fact. He lost every round to Pacquaio so did Rios but the Rios fight does more for Brook than the Algieri fight did for Khan.

It was a step backwards for Khan and his performance was horrific. Rios is a more known quantity and more established than Algieri and if Brook beats him live on HBO in an exciting fight, it grows his profile in America.

There was no reason for Khan to fight Algieri whatsoever.
