  • Comments Thread For: Hearn on Anthony Joshua Foes: Thompson, Arreola, Solis

Promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport is having his share of issues in securing opponents for Olympic gold medal winner Anthony Joshua (13-0, 13KOs). The power-punching heavyweight blew right past Kevin Johnson on Saturday night in London, knocking out the usually durable fighter in two rounds.

Joshua is going to return on July 18th and then on September 12th at the O2 Arena.

Hearn is trying to get better opposition for Joshua, but says the potential opponents are requesting a lot of money to get in the ring with Joshua and Hearn "doesn't blame them" for being reluctant to get in the ring with Joshua.

Because Joshua is still a novice, he doesn't want to put him in too early like Price-Thompson.

Arreola is a good fight to take soon. He isnt the best but he would bring it for all the time he is in the ring. Plus hes a decent offensive fighter when he wants to be.

For British heavyweight boxing, a Tony Thompson fight would be huge. If Joshua could beat TT, he would be beating the guy that beat down the last British HW prospect. Would be a high risk, high reward fight.

Because AJ has only had 13 fights so far. Look at who Wladimir Klitschko fought in his 14th fight. Solis or Charr are good names for Joshua at this stage of his career.

For me, i'd love Tony Thompson in July then a big domestic fight in September.

He should clean up at dometic level first, there's no reason to rush, he's still only had 13 fights and doesn't want to do a David Price.

He's already fought better competition in 13 fights than Deontay Wilder faced in 30.

British title fight next, which is vacant if I'm not mistaken? I agree with Hearn, Whyte, Chisora and Price would all be decent fights to make.

AJ vs Dillian Whyte would be good. Whyte is big, strong and ambitious. He would come to fight and it would be very exciting while it lasted.
