Time will tell, maybe top 5. But he'll retire undefeated with the best record in title fights if all time. He's been fighting elite competition for 30 fights now, that's insane. Floyd has a minimum if 10 HOF fighters on his resume.
To get to 48-0 is impressive, but this guy was 17-0 when he fought his first world champion. Since his 17th fight he hasn't fought any of the total bums you see littering the fight cards of almost all other fighters. He's been fighting top 10 fighters in their weight clas exclusively for 17 years, who else can say that? Cotto at 154, Canelo, Oscar at 154, Madaina, etc etc. he's tested himself over and over. He's fought undefeated fighters, he's fought much bigger fighters, he's 26-0 in title fights. You can't ask for much more.
Mayweather's legacy will grow after he retires. Everyone has him top 25 now, many have him top 10, in 10 years everyone will realize he's top 10 without a doubt to everyone and top 5 to many.
Best ever? Time will tell, but he's certainly accomplished some things no on else has. I'd say he'll be in the discussion, but will fall just behind SRR and Henry Armstrong in a group with Pepp and SRL.Comment

Comparisons across eras are ultimately pointless but obviously fun. Floyd is the best in his era - dominant - and that is all a man can be.Comment

Comparisons of eras never stopped anyone from making top 10 lists before. What I do know though is that if you are going to talk best of his era, Floyd is the best of this era by a long ways, perhaps more clearly the best if his era as any other fighter has ever been. And his era is longer than most others too as he has beaten guys like Oscar and SSM who ruled boxing just before he came into prominence, he's beaten all of his peers, and he's beaten some young guys who could rule boxing for the next 10 years. So he's certainly got an argument.Comment

True boxing fans know Castillo and Madaina beat him , they know how he fights all hall of famers and the end of their careers. To bad there's no welter weight trained by Kevin Rooney who has the peek a boo style who slips punches with knock out power like Iron Mike once did this style with KO power would be a nightmare for Floyd. Lucky he's fighting in this ERA and not the 80's so timing has been good to FloydComment
