Helenius isn't exactly what you'd call top class. He's not even in the top ten. He is the perfect type of guy Joshua. The fact is if he can't get by Helenius, he's no bloody good.

Joshua has shown he's well past domestic level. So he's coming up on contender status, which means he needs to test himself out against other contenders and Helenius is absolutely nothing more than a basic contender, and not a particularly good one at that. He's a very simple boxer that has some major flaws and doesn't seem to train with any discipline or consistency. An out of shape Chisora outworked him, and probably should have won.

He's looked good against some fighters and utterly mediocre against others. Helenius has some decent things going that can actually present someone who is on the path to future champ with something to solve. If they can't get past that though, they're not much to begin with and won't ever be...like David Price. If you can't get past 40 year old Thompson, you have no future at the top anyway.

Helenius is exactly the type of fighter he should be facing. Someone who isn't very good, close to the top ten maybe, but not in it but still poses some problems, but not enough that anyone who is good can't overcome.

Joshua should test himself with Wilder, and then go for Wlad.

That said, Joshua is definitely ready to step up the level of comp against some top 20 guys. Let's see him against Charr, Takam, Browne, Chambers, Wach, Price.
I also think Joshua was way better prepared and much more ready for this fight than the Gavern fight. He had been off for 3-4 months and didn't look sharp at all in that fight - but you're right.

I'd like to see joshua go in with a taller fighter like a Price or a Wach. Preferably Wach just because we know he was a solid chin and would cause AJ different problems. Now if AJ was to do a similar job on Wach, that would be a real statement.

he should really be looking to knock off chisora and price within the next 12 months. you can chuck dillian whyte in there as well. i'd like chisora to have a tune-up under his belt first though. for comparison's sake, lennox lewis in his 14th fight fought gary mason.

He was a hell of a lot better than Johnson ever was and several leagues above anyone else he's fought though. Better than most top contenders out there at the moment.

Deontay Wilder's next opponent and first challenger for the WBC title is Eric Molina. In Eric Molina's last fight it took him to the last of 8 rounds to get a stoppage victory over Raphael Zumbano Love. Four months later Anthony Joshua blew Zumbano Love away in 2.

IMO Christian Hammer or Tony Thompson next.

I don't think he's better than a lot of top contenders today. Who did he ever beat?

He put up a decent effort against a rookie Lennox Lewis and won a british title. That was about what he did. I don't think he's levels above a Dillian Whyte for example. Skillwise that is.

He was tough, but lacked skills.
