The question we should ask is, who had a better preformance against Algieri, Khan or Pac? It's quite a clear answer, forget catchweights, Algieri was a 140lber looking to ease into 147 so the 144 catchweight would've suited him at the time.
Algieri fought out of his comfort zone, hurt Khan and made a case for winning the fight. Maidana boxed how he always boxes, made it a closer fight than expected but doesn't really have a case for winning. Maidana is a much more powerful and dangerous opponent, coming off a big win makes Floyds performance much better. The 2nd Maidana fight? Floyd hands down.
Algieri didn't make a case for winning the fight, he had a few moments of success but he was largely dominated by Khan. And we can't assume 144 catchweight "suited him", he'd been trying to move up to 147 for years but his opportunities have come at 140 or a nearby catchweight so that's the only reason he's stayed there until now but you can see that he looks physically noticeably bigger than Khan, and in fact bigger than most other welterweights.
Although I thought Floyd won, I think there's more of a case for Maidana beating Floyd in the first fight than saying Algieri came close to beating Khan. Floyd vs Maidana 1 was a much closer fight than Khan vs Algieri. Floyd vs Maidana 2 was an easier fight for Floyd, but still not a walk in the park like many had thought it might be second time around.

You ignored the other guy that gave you this link:
According to Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach, Manny Pacquiao's upcoming defense of the WBO welterweight title will determine if the boxer is going to remain at 147-pounds of drop down to the junior welterweight limit of 140-pounds.
Pacquiao will face undefeated WBO junior welterweight champion Chris Algieri at a catch-weight of 144-pounds on November 22nd in Macau, China.
The last time Pacquiao scored a stoppage victory was in 2009, when he put away Miguel Cotto in the twelfth round.
It was supposed to be a return to 140 for Pac but Roach decided on a catchweight of 144 to see how he does in a lower weight. Algieri was fighting at 140 before the Pac fight, if he was struggling to make weight for Prov and was planning a move up, 144 would've suited him more than having to boil down to 140 again. You can't drain a 140lber with a catchweight of 144, if anything, they gave him more room to make weight.
Maidana is a much more dangerous opponent than Algieri no matter how you spin it. Khan was so bad, he made a stick & move boxer seem like an effective brawler.

Quite the opposite - Khan turned an effective and above average boxer into a crude slugger who had to resort to looking for a lucky punch. A non-weight drained, comfortable at the weight, Algieri was almost completely outclassed in nearly every round. We have to bear in mind that both Pacquiao and Provodnikov were essentially fighting a weight drained fighter whereas Khan was fighting Algieri at his very best.
