Honestly, I think Ward is licking his chops. DeGale is a good fighter but he did nothing for long stretches against Dirrell. That's not a winning formula against an elite fighter.

You mean the washed up Cotto that had what is surely the greatest win, and arguably best performance of his career, after Mayweather and who is now the lineal middleweight champion of the world? That 'washed up' Cotto?

Funny though that you list five world champions, including two HOFers who were current and future lineal champions at the time Mayweather beat them, and then talk about taking the easy route.

Maybe you should brush up on your high school comparative essays. I'd take five world champions, and two HOFers including the lineal welterweight and current lineal middleweight champion, any day of the week over Algieri, Rios, broken Bradley, and getting KTFO by a 60 year old lightweight, who Mayweather had schooled without breaking a sweat after a two year lay off.

1) Cotto was washed up and past his prime. He beat a one-legged old Martinez.
2) Mosley and De La Hoya were way past their primes. Please do not even say anything positive about Maidana, Guerrero and Ortiz, the last two are scrubs and Maidana is ok and he actually gave Floyd a really good fight the first fight.
3) I did not mention Pacquiao he is irrelevant to the conversation

Finally, I am an objective person and all in all I like Mayweather (as a boxer obviously) I just think that he could have done more. He fooled the masses easily by selectively choosing the right boxers and MORE IMPORTANTLY ALL AT THE RIGHT TIME. He also does not have enough in their prime black fighters for me to put him in the top 5. He will never be TBE, impossible. He was a solid boxer whose management team carefully selected his opposition. Nonetheless is a very good boxer but one who should have taken more chances. If his last two fights are Andrade and Golovkin, win or lose I will gain a lot of respect for Floyd. The funny thing is I think he beats Golovkin quite easily and coin flip against Boo Boo. Greatness for me is defined by fighting the most challenging opposition at the most appropriate time. You see many people here swear at me call be bad names but I have not done this once. I believe that in all walks of life man needs challenges and Floyd took the path of least resistance. He won against the opposition he faced so kudos, respect, but he could have challenged himself more I would have respected him much more.

Pacquiao's career is modelled on, the bold in your post.

Mayweather opponents, usually have to be at the top of their game, coming off their best win, in order to land a Mayweather fight..... Pacquiao usually fights name fighters who are clearly on the slide, often coming off a loss, but never at their peak.

That was from last year wasn't it? When DeGale agreed to come to America to fight Ward and then, for whatever reason, Ward didn't take the fight.

Hopefully after Ward takes care of the guy DeGale embarrassed in front of his home fans just 8 fights into his career, they can meet up in the future.

Me too. I hope Jack beats Groves. If Groves beats Jack, a DeGale-Groves unification makes more sense for DeGale than a Ward fight.
