That round it particular i scored 10-7.
Dirrell was boxing well and winning the round, but by the end of the round, he had been dropped twice and was probably saved by the bell. So, it's hard not to score it for DeGale 10-9. Then the minus 2 points for Dirrell due to the KD's..10-7.
10 is the starting point, and you fight to make your opponent loses as much as you could from those 10, it is a competition of who makes his opponent suffers more.
99.99% of the time it'll be a 10-7. The 0.01% would be a 10-8, and would have to be two flash knockdowns being overturned by the knockdownee (?) beating his opponent from pillar to post every other second of the round. I could see it happening in an Aaron Pryor fight.

That isn't how the rules work in a 10 point must system.
Unless of course, you are making up your own rules.
What if boxer X (Dirrell) is winning the round quite clearly but no heavy punishment gets then dropped with 30 seconds to go twice. Does boxer Y (degale) get it 10-7 or 10-8?
If you've been knocked down, you haven't won the round.
All this 9-7 bollocks, or whatever. You can outbox someone for 2:50 of a round, but if the other man has put your ass on the floor, you haven't won it have you
10-7 unless they're flash knockdowns. Although I've never seen a fighter go down from two flash kds in one fight, much less one round.
Side note: Had Dirrell been knocked down early in the round, I don't think he would've made it out. He was hurt bad. Degale should've jumped on him early in the third round but elected not to.
