Froch sounds keen on Golovkin to me, but he did mention other options at one point (outside of retirement) which I took to mean alternative opponents but it could easily have meant something else.

Truth be told, it may not be the brightest move to fight Golovkin after a 16 month lay-off at the age of 37/38 (if the fight took place in September as mooted). He could do with a tune up.

Super middleweight contender Carl Froch is still uncertain over whether or not he intends to fight one more time. Froch has been inactive since last May's knockout victory over George Groves before 80,000 fans at Wembley Stadium.

WBA/IBO middleweight Gennady "GGG" Golovkin is more than willing to move up to super middleweight to Froch, and he's willing to give homefield advantage by taking the fight in the UK.

Golovkin's promoter Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions, and Froch's promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport, have spoken about the fight several times.

Great fight, I think Froch wants it but he is basically saying make it worth my while because I dont need to fight..I can just retire. Hope it comes together.

I can't tell you how much i would love that fight. The Cobra has one more fight in him and he will test GGG. Golovkin might hit Froch with everything he has and almost get him out of there but the Cobra has the chin and the stamina and what happens when Froch comes back in the later rounds? Big Drama show!

The thing about Froch taking a tune-up is all his talk about needing to be motivated. If he needs motivation in order to take a big fight with Golovkin, how's he going to be motivated to fight another Yusef Mack level fight?

I do agree I'd rather see Golovkin & Froch have separate fights in September then fight in December (Golovkin could starch Lara in the meantime), but I don't see Froch investing into a meaningless opponent, especially with a high chance of him picking up another injury.

Of course you would and GGG would take the fight at 168 and you want to know why because neither of you want Ward. GGG knows that you are a beatable mark and he will only move up to fight you, other than that GGG wants to force welterweight and junior welterweights to fight him (Floyd, Saul, Miguel).

Ward is HIV to Froch and GGG...they don't want to get infected so they use protection.

Froch loves the attention even though the Brit is a fringe fighter and has lost enough to tarnish eagle beak's image. Calzaghe destroys Froch had they met up. Given that The Bearcat believes Froch beats GGG after one tune up fight to get sharp. GGG is a natural 154lber and froch would fight at 180lbs fight nite. Froch is way to arrogant though for a fringe contender.
