  • Im laying this squarely on Al Haymons panty wearing ass. If **** fights like khan algieri and thurman collazo are part of the pbc masterplan then this **** is going to sink boxing even further. These guys should be fighting each other and making good fights not not just staying in this holding pattern, and being protected ad nauseam.

PBC is meant to bring boxing back to the public, with crap like this, it can't.

And Thurman was meant to fight Porter, but pulled out. Apparently, to fight Collazo.

Its not a terrible fight. Collazo is a very good fighter, sure Khan absolutely beat the crap out of him, but Khan is the only fighter to handle him. Thats the problem. Thruman criticized Collazo as an opponent for Khan.

Well in that case, after he gets the snot beaten out of him, and a year later, when hes even older, now he's a good opponent? LMAO. Thurman is a clown. Keep your mouth shut, to stop contradicting yourself Thurman.

It obviously should've been Porter Thurman, it easily could've been.

But Haymon again protecting what he thinks is his important chess pieces, and this kind of thinking is always going to fail. LIke D Garcia, waiting years to put on Garcia Peterson like its some amazing holy grail fight. The result? It was a crap fight, that Peterson appeared to win, making the fight even crapper.

You have to aim for the moon in every fight, if you want to go anywhere on network TV. Haymon doesn't get it. PBC continues its slide into failure.
Keith Thurman fought Robert Guerrero in March, is fighting Luis Collazo come July, and is likely to close out the year with another fight (Berto/Alexander/etc).

Three good fights, in front of three major audiences, giving the general sports fan a chance to see him fight and raise his profile.

A similar path is being laid out for Danny Garcia; fought Peterson in April, will likely fight Postol in Philly come August/September, and will close the year out with another fight (likely at 147 against a solid guy). Three good fights, on three big stages, giving the viewers three chances to get familiar with his face.

Heck, even fighters like Porter have paths going forward; dropped the IBF title before the launch of PBC, just got a win back, is heading into a tough but winnable fight against Broner, with a win their likely positioning him for a solid fight (Guerrero/etc) to close out the year.

The PBC platform is being put in place to raise the profile of boxing and the fighters affiliated with PBC.

Much has changed since then, that was before Maidana got the Broner fight and two career high paydays against Mayweather, do you understand how that works?

... I guess you weren't around to see the raccoon eyes at the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight, lol.

Did he actually pick this fight, though?

Wonder if Thurmann will knock Collazo out, Khan dropped him 3 times...

              Collazo and Algieri>>Frankie Gavin
Nah they all the same general tier in my book. Bums. [Collazo, Algieri, Gavin] Collazo might be the worst pick just because he's already 34 we can feel some confidence that he isn't suddenly going to become a factor, and the younger Algieri and Gavin could hypothetically turn their careers into something. Though I very much doubt that'll happen.

Can't reconcile the two statements in bold.

That would be a step down from Collazo even lol.

                  • So Mayweather is fighting Khan for his farewell if Cotto gets signed to the Canelo fight...book it.
Haymon's trying to build up Thurman to take over in a post-Mayweather world. Would rather not throw him to the lions just yet, makes sense from his position but I'm probably not paying to watch Mayweather toy with Khan

WHO THE F**K IS MAYWEATHER GOING TO FIGHT

                      Danny Garcia
Amir Khan (vs Chris Algieri, May 29), Kell Brook(c) (vs Frankie Gavin, May 30), or Danny Garcia. Outside chance of Cotto, but those are the options.

Whoever puts forward the best performance, gets the fight [Mayweather Promotions looks to put on a PPV show that brings in domestic PPV, UK PPV, Canadian PPV, and a sizable Mexico TV rights fee]. If both look terrible, or even end up losing, Danny Garcia gets the fight.
