Comments Thread For: Golovkin's Promoter Not Ruling Out Lara Bout

WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (33-0, 30KOs) has a lot of options for his next fight, which is being targeted for September.

Golovkin was in action this past Saturday night in Los Angeles, where he stopped Willie Monroe in six rounds.

The selection of Monroe was done because Golovkin wanted to face a slick southpaw, but another slick southpaw in Cuba's Erislandy Lara (20-2-2, 12KOs) is calling for an immediate fight.

This wouldn't be a great fight but I hope they can make it so the idiots will finally shut up. GGG KO5...but Lara is probably going to want 1million for the fight and i dont know if thats possible...plus I don't think Haymon would let him get destroyed like that.

So Lara being a Haymon fighter, and Haymon fighters fighting on PBC networks IS a factor after all? Then Lara would have to actually move up to 160lbs?
Sounds exactly like what I've been trying to explain to some of these morons.
There it is, in plain English what has to happen if Lara really wants this fight and isn't just playing the name game.

I would love to see this fight. It will be difficult to make because Haymon vs. HBO, that's what people don't understand. Would Haymon allow Lara to fight on HBO? does Lara even want to move up?
GGG will knock Lara out, If it happens I want to see what the haters that were saying that Lara will outbox GGG say.

If Lara is serious, I would like to see him test out 160 before fighting GGG so he can test the waters and no excuses about the weight should be made. Why not challenge Danny Jacobs, Jacobs is Haymon and has a title and a very winnable fight for him. Make a pretty good statement if he could beat Jacobs then the GGG fight would be better.

Look, GGG is one of my favorite fighters but him picking on smaller guys... Dude is clearly losing a fan at this point, it's getting out of control. Move up man, seriously.

Exactly my thoughts, man. I think Lara is just talking (or his manager who runs his twitter page), because they know the fight probably won't happen due to politics. Lara even said he wanted to stay at 154. They're just trying to make GGG look bad and making it look like GGG doesn't want Lara.
GGG would KO Lara, I'm so positive in that.

No, no ,no. Lara has the better resume and is a slick Cuban Southpaw that people have heard of. It would be the best name that GGG has fought.
Also, he's said in interviews and on twitter that he wants it so that's as good as a signed contract lol.

What smaller guy is he picking on? Canelo is his size if not bigger, he wants cotto's wbc belt (fair game), and Lara called HIM OUT, not the other way around.
