GGG could have fought safe and just bide his time but he deliberately decided to go toe to toe...and thus give Monroe a shot. He was not holding back, but he did present Monroe with a face to hit!

Has anyone besides me realized that GGG's record has been doctored in this article to reflect a 100% KO ratio ? Lol

I wonder if this is merely a typo , or something they plan to start doing regularly .

            Not sure what that's about.

On the fight, I don't think Golovkin was holding back. I think he went for the KO in the 2nd round, almost got it and felt he could finish it in the 3rd round but Monroe turned out to be more durable than expected.

Last Saturday's fight reminded me of Tszyu-Phillips. Phillips had the power, skills and inside game to work Tszyu over. He was also able to survive one hell of an onslaught. But by pounding the body consistently he finally broke a HOF'er in his prime.

GGG was stunned in the second, I believe, and definitely felt a few more punches (particularly to the body). But like Tszyu he's got insane belief in his strength, power and skills. Thus far it's working very well for him.

He never said he was going for the knockout in the lead up to the second fight. He said the fight is going to be a completely different fight than the first one. He said he could had knocked Maidana out in the first fight, if Maidana didn't have a better job than he expected that prevented him from doing more body work.

He was ready for Maidana because he decided to fight his fight in the first and still beat him wide.

I believe GGG could have pushed for the KOin the 3 rd or 4th, but he let off the gas. I also believe someone with GGG's amateur pedigree could fight more defensively responsible, but he's all about going for ko's and giving the fans excitement.

Big drama show. Special present, ect.
