Do you guys believe GGG really lets his opponents tee off on his face?

      No doubt

I agree. At one time I highly favored Golovkin. But as the years have passed he's only a slight favorite now and Canelo can hurt him. If anything Canelo doesn't look nearly as sloppy.

I really liked what Roy Jones jr said after the Kellerman interview about how Golovkin is human and can bleed and get hurt in spite of what Kellerman thinks.

Body punches will be a big factor from both.

It's all speculation. Which is why we need single titles, single belts per weight class to FORCE guys to fight each other for real.

To hell with catch weights. Stick to solid weight classes and demand one champion for each.

i think you guys are overrating canelo's win over kirkland a little too much. it was a fun fight that ended with a great ko, but let's not get carried away here.

kirkland got ko'ed by ishida, remember?

has canelo's stamina suddenly vastly improved?

has golovkin stopped being one of the (if not the) most vicious and precise body punchers in the game?

It has nothing to do with the Kirkland fight for me. I expected that. It's his progression. At this point he has been more tested than Golovkin with a higher level of opposition. By far.

It's quite complex - I see it as a mixture of GGG allowing shots to land to entice his opponent into a slug fest but also due to some defensive or stamina flaws. His defense isn't very varied and so he probably feels he can get away with standing there and taking some shots when he gets frustrated (especially from light punching guys like Monroe) in order to send a message to his opponent, and to hopefully get counter punching opportunities.

At the same time, he finished the fight when he wanted to and hurt Monroe at will. I really believe that GGG would not employ similar tactics against tougher opponents or those that could potentially hurt him, as I said in the RBR thread.

if canelo was better than golovkin he and his handlers would make the fight in an instant

yep. no doubt he let willie let off a few combos.

golovkin is becoming an entertainer. the peoples champ. modern day gladiator.

Well i hope he doesn't get into that habit when he's in with better punchers.

I don't care how good your chin is or how tough you are, all it takes is a shot from a good solid puncher, not even a killer and it can be done. Look at Margarito against Mosley, eventually you can be worn down. Or look at Froch v Groves 1. Froch is considered to have one of the best chins in the business but Groves almost took him out in 1 round due to sloppy defence equalled with a great shot. Luckily for Froch it was towards the end of the round.
