GGG I have one word for you: WARD!!!

So exactly the same situation GGG is in with Canelo and Cotto, he isn't worth the risk.If the ref starts taking points for holding he probably wouldn't. He might still win though.
It's a good fight, but one the money isn't there for.
As Loeffler said, Golovkin makes more versus Monroe than Ward because Ward will want a bigger share. Beating Ward isn't going to make him a star, losing to Ward will dim his star, so without the money it's just not worth it.Comment

Its not exact same. Canelo or Cotto vs GGG is a PPV fight with clear A side. Itll be big and easily pay for itself. Not so with Ward, even Roc Nation wants to wait till it makes financial sense. Not to mention divisional supremacyComment

No, it is the exact same. There are bigger names for GGG to make money off of than Ward. For Canelo and Cotto, there are bigger names for them to make money off other than GGG. Contrary to what HBO wants you to think, GGG after 2 years is still drawing Andre Ward size crowds. Granted, he's doing it in more than in Oakland but he's not far ahead of Ward in terms of drawing power.Comment

I'm with Bando on this. Canelo needs increasing challenges to raise his star power, if he wants to be the next great Mexican superstar. Cotto is basically done and will avoid GGG, simply because he can't hang with him. To assume that Ward is still big based on his performances of 1.5 years ago is unwise. Even then, he was merely a rising star. Not only does he have to shake off ring rust, we also have yet to see how well his shoulder surgery healed. Considering his comeback fight is being aired on BET, it's safe to surmise that the big networks may be skeptical too.Comment

Why are people still assuming Cotto won't fight GGG? Cotto himself stated nothing different than Canelo saying it's an option in the future. Why does Canelo get a pass for the same statement but Cotto gets hate? Who's fought MW's while in the MW division? It certainly isn't Canelo, but he's the one with balls?I'm with Bando on this. Man, Cotto basically said he would drop his belt if he was ordered to fight Golovkin. Canelo never said anything like that. Why are people still assuming Cotto won't fight GGG? Everyone knows Cotto isn't going to fight Golovkin. Lifetime avatar bet. Right now.Comment

Cotto can fight who he wants when he wants, he'll fight GGG but he isn't fighting because someone tells him to. If that's the best option, he'll fight him it's that simple. He also said GGG can come get when the time is right after the ESPN interview you're talking about.Comment
