GGG vs Lara needs to happen next!

We all know from 154-160 Lara is easily one of the top 5 guys in either weight class. He's incredibly skilled and athletic and hardly anybody wants to fight him. Only warriors like Paul Williams and Canelo have given this man a shot and he arguably beat both of them.

GGG needs this to prove he's legit. Cotto and Canelo aren't going to fight him. Ward needs a fight or 2. Quillen and Jacobs are Haymon guys so they are out of the question especially since they both use the "it will be bigger down the road excuse" which pretty much means we won't risk our life unless Cotto or Canelo do first MAYBE. They want as much money as possible before they get KTFO.

GGG needs a legit test and Lara is that. I think it would be a great fight like Angulo-Lara. Their is no excuse not to make this fight. MAKE IT HAPPEN!

After watching the fight tonight I don't see the point. Lara was practically beaten by a much lesser Angulo and was still tagged to the body by a fighter that doesn't even know how to cut off the ring in Canelo. Monroe had the most success when he took Golovkin to the center of the ring where he was able to fire back with counter punches. Golovkin is too good at cutting the ring off and once he lands on you against the ropes it hurts too much. There is no way Lara would be able to step up to the middle of the ring and go toe to toe with Golovkin, so he'd be running more than he ever has in his entire life and at some point GGG would cut him off and hurt him. I'm not exactly sure why people are eager to see this fight.

      1. GGG let Monroe tee off one him in the middle of the ring. This was covered in the post fight as well. He wanted to give the fans drama so he told Monroe to bring it.

      2. How did Angulo practically beat him? He dropped Lara and made it a war but it wasn't anything like your making it out to be. That fight could of went either way when it was stopped. It was wild.

      3. People want to see it because they think a slick defensive fighter at the elite level will outbox GGG so this is the perfect oppurtunity to see what he's made of.

The best fight for Golovkin that is actually possible at the moment is probably Lee. Lee would most likely get beat, but he is a wily vet and can counter with a huge punch and hurt GGG and then all bets are off. He's got a considerable height advantage and could make an interesting match up at middle weight. If not Lee, the winner of N'dam vs. Lemiuex.

          1. I actually think Monroe changed his strategy and tried to stand his ground in the center of the ring. He was trying to box off the back foot but GGG was cutting him off so well that he was getting tagged in the more straight up position he was in on his back foot. He lowered his head and got closer because it was the only way he had a chance. He simply does not have the power or the chin to win that type of fight.

          2. Ok...first let's establish that Angulo is not even close to 1/4 the fighter of GGG. In terms of power, skill, size. Basically any metric used to gauge a fighter he pales in comparison to GGG. Still, Angulo was able to drop Lara twice and give him hell. Enough said.

          3. Sure, he's a slick defensive fighter but he's also fighting at a weight class below GGG. I wouldn't mind the fight, I just don't see the point given what we've seen from both fighters over the last few years. Give me Lee, N'dam Lemieux winner over Lara any day. At least those guys are middle weights.

Lee is good, but sorry, GGG absolutely taxes his ass in 2 rounds. His style does not match up well against Golovkin.

These are the 2 biggest fights for him that will probably actually happen. I just didn't mention Lee because I'm assuming him and Quillen would want a rematch. I would love for him to fight GGG instead though. So GGG could stop him and just to see the look Quillens face would be priceless. Andy Lee is a warrior though and it would be explosive while it last. I would be surprised if he dropped GGG either.

Hey I agree with you, I'm simply stating that Lee at least has the chance of a freak KO and he actually has the balls to probably take the fight. Of course Lee would be ****** to take GGG before he faces Billy Joe Saunders for big money in the UK.

For me, last night pretty much erased any hope Lara had of winning.

Golovkin is too adept at cutting off the ring, and Lara's punch resistance isn't as good as Monroe's.

You can't run from Golovkin, in fact you're more likely to have success in the pocket on the inside.

Uh, hate to break it to you, but Lara is a Haymon guy, .

I'd love to see GGG beat Lara to death though.
