Why would Golovkin be the A-side? Today was apparently Golovkin's biggest payday as a fighter ever, and it's still short of what Andre Ward pulled for the Rodriguez fight, by about half a million dollars (Golovkin's number, after two years of work, is what Ward picked up in his debut HBO fight).

You add that Ward was able to sell $700k worth of tickets for Ward-Dawson in Oakland and, unless I'm not looking right, there's no information available for any of the gate revenues for Golovkin's last 5 fights.

Golovkin has been the more active fighter, but he's not making bigger purses than Ward is and there's a question whether he's bringing more money than Ward at the box office.

If The Return of SOG: Ward-Smith ends up doing over $1m at the gate, you add another one to the Ward ledger.

Unless HBO puts some real money behind Golovkin, Team GGG wouldn't be allowed to dictate ****.

Have to wonder exactly what weight GGG-Ward would be fought at.
The day-of weights for the last Ward fight (Ward-Rodriguez) and the Golovkin fight before this most recent one (Golovkin-Murray) were with four pounds of each other, with Kovalev walking into the ring for the Hopkins fight at least ten pounds heavier than Ward in Ward-Rodriguez (the fact that Kovalev's weight was exactly 185, the upper limit allowed for by the IBF, likely means he could've added on another five pounds in fluid rather easily).

Lay out the available information, look at it for what it is, and it'd be clear that your statement is inaccurate.

Let's see what Ward comes in at now. The Rodriguez fight was a while ago.

Yet Ward is fighting at 172 now.. something doesn't add up.

Ward hasn't had to make weight for nearly a year and a half, the Smith fight is a non-title fight, and Ward set the fight at a weight that he should (if he's still physically a super middleweight) easily make.

              not sure what you're missing.

Ward's no coward. He'll be the C-side if that helps Golovkin find his balls and accept the fight.

He should, it is a fight that he would probably win and would get his career back on track.

He should probably accept a horrendously bad offer, even though Golovkin really isn't that much bigger than him.

Would he? Who knows pride is a mother****er~
