Comments Thread For: GGG's Coach: We Want Canelo Now, Not Within 10 Years

Abel Sanchez, trainer of WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin, says his fighter is ready to face Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez next May or next September.

Sanchez reacted to the recent comments that were made by Canelo's promoter, Oscar De La Hoya of Golden Boy Promotions.

Following Canelo's third round destruction of James Kirkland last Saturday night in Houston, De La Hoya said his company was interested in making the fight with Golovkin but "in the future."

I wish Golovkin good luck in his pursuit of Canelo, I think he will need it if the fight is to happen anytime soon.

Oh shut up already, Abel Sanchez. You finally have a world-class fighter and you think it gives you license to be a dic*head about evertything. Just chill the F out.

Canelo at 154, GGG at 160. They must fight at one of these weights.

Probably doesn't make "financial sense" to Canelo and Oscar just yet.

This. Canelo so far has shown a willingness to step in with anyone, but Oscar is going to be the one that'll block the fight. Funny how Oscar became the thing he always hated.
