We will see in our next PPV sales.... Floyd vs Pac might have ****ed the upcoming PPVs. almost 5+ million people bought 100 PPV to watch a horrible undercard with the worst active champion LSC and the mian event was a hug and run, i mean "boxing"......

I didnt know if i was watching MMA or boxing, Floyd got some wrestling skills.

I did, I only fault Canelo for not making the Cotto fight in June in MSG.

Lee and Gaele are not on SHo. Canelo is making 154 lbers fight above that rather than him fighting 160lbers at 160. He's done that a lot and I think some fans have grown tired of it.

      Canelo isn't Manny or Floyd.

Dude, Kirkland had no chance to win. His name, record and past achievements do not change that fact. Please do not act like this was a competitive fight because you found a website that ranks Kirkland 14th.

GBP didn't make the Canelo/ Kirkland fight because he was the only one out there-they did it to avoid fighting Cotto in NYC because of the optics of Canelo not being seen as "the star".

If you know that, why do you support mayweather? you know he doesnt give it his all.... never have and never will.... I always see floyd fans talking about other fights and getting excited over knockouts, but when it comes to mayweather they go back to the "its boxing doe". So do you wanna see whos the better man or whos the better "boxer"??

Everytime floyd fights his fans make knockout predictions like get real if floyd cant sucker punch he cant get a knockoout.

Floyd robs the fans everytime he fights, but ppl still pay to see him lose. In a 6 fight contract he fights robert guerrero and marcos maidana twice.... clearly TBE!!!

No it wasn't IMO. The good fight was Cotto-in June in MSG. A fight that if he wins, he restores the luster he lost in the Floyd performance. This win didn't do that IMO because Kirkland had no real chance to win.

I didn't say or imply he was avoiding him. I stated specifically his unwillingness to face Cotto in NYC and why he IMO he didn't want to. There is no guarantee Cotto is next.

Does waiting a month constitute inactivity?

IMO, canelo v cotto on HBO in June would have been much better for fans and the sport.
I agree, no need for a rematch.

Cotto team passed on the fight after the 5th deadline, Canelo had to move on & not stay inactive.

Cotto-Canelo already has a preliminary agreement set to face each other before the end of the year (as per BoxingScene).

Canelo has already restored a lot of his lost luster at Minute Maid park, 31,000+ in audience is phenomenal. Give it time, the fight you've been waiting for so eagerly will happen.

No he hasn't. Just because fans showed up for cheap seats in Texas doesn't mean he has made up for the putrid Floyd performance with all fans. Did Koing Kirkland do that for you?

They could've waited, they didn't choose to. You get my point and are trying to just move past it.

It was more important for Canelo, GBP and HBO to have Canelo beat a name opponent with no chance to win rather than make a great fight 1 month later on the road in MSG. for most boxing fans, a title win in another guys home arena, especially MSG the mecca of boxing, is worth far more than an easy KO in minute maid park.

It would be funny if Floyd fought cotto next. That would give us Canelo v Clottey, unless of course he took the tougher, better opponent in GGG.

Woah, blame it on the seats/tickets now. Oscar did well with the pricing for fans sake. It's good to have fights away from expensive casinos & make it accessible to the real boxing fans.

KO'ing Kirkland & beating the other guys Canelo did after the Floyd loss is definitely the most any of Floyd's opponents has done since their loss to Floyd. Canelo looked good against Kirkland like he should've, he had no other choice in opponent+he wouldn't be forgiven by fans especially on NSB had he not looked impressive. It's because of that why you & everyone else wants to see him up against GGG.. Otherwise no one would give a fcuk about Canelo. The fans loved it, 1.18 million people watched the underwhelming MayPac replay on HBO & actually stayed for Canelo Kirkland, Canelo added another million viewers to his fight on HBO after that boring fight of the century, that's really impressive. I don't see anyone from the media not giving Canelo props for Kirkland.

I actually don't get your point about waiting. Canelo ODLH waited 5 times & after the 5th deadline passed & Cotto team declined, why wait? If negotiations for a fight like MayPac or any other fight could've restarted right after the first failed negotiations by waiting..we would've got the MayPac fight several years ago. It's not that simple, nor does it work like that. Cotto refused first, Canelo announces Kirkland fight & now Cotto's people are scouting Canelo at his fight running around signing preliminary fight deals with ODLH/Canelo & look bad/desperate? Why not sign for Canelo fight in the first place? To say that it was more important for Canelo/ODLH to avoid Cotto is absolutely ridiculous.

I only suggest GGG if Floyd fights Cotto in September. Otherwise, I assume it will be Cotto or clottey for Canelo next.

We are not discussing props, we are discussing what the sport would benefit from more. I am in no way taking anything away from Canelo's win, just pointing out how non competitive matches like that hurt the sport.

You wait because instead of a blowout mismatch we get a more competitive fight, which is what you said you wanted. Cotto was trying to make the best deal for himself, same as Canelo.

Canelo can't really complain about that.

Would you rather have had Kirkland/Canelo last week or cotto/canelo in June?

These individuals you are talking about said the same thing about the Mayweather/De La Hoya fight and fight Mayweather/Alvarez fight. Yet, they still paid $100 to watch the fight. These same casual fans will pay it again to see a rematch because everyone wants to be part of a major event, regardless of whether they like it or know anything about it. Half the people who watch the Oscars on television have never seen one of the movies that are being nominated for awards.

It would be Broner level delusional ****** of Canelo/ODLH to face GGG for his first fight at 160. Completely move up 6lbs to the next weight class & challenge the top guy there? Really?

The sport benefits when the fighters & fans benefit, May 9 both parties benefited. The sport would've suffered had there been no decent fights the week after MayPac, we would have to deal with topics like boxing is dead/MMA>boxing. NSB would've been littered with such topics to no end.

You very well know the answer to which fight i would've preferred for Canelo last week vs this June. Canelo Cotto both wish the best deal for themselves, didn't happen, accept that, both guys moved on & there's no point obsessing over that. Canelo did well, all eyes on Cotto now.

When the best match ups can't get made like in this case, I'd gladly take guys like Kirkland with a punchers chance over watching the top guys face Salka/Eric Molina/salesmen in absolute blowout mismatches.
