If anything they should have some 3rd party choose judges and refs, but even then it would be corrupted.
That's the point, it will be ultra hard for hometown cooking to happen if slow-motion replay punch by punch review is implemented. It is as close as foolproof as it can ever be. Let's make life harder for the those cheater, the tool is already there begging to be used, why not use it. Of course they can force hometown cooking if they can, but as I said let's make it even harder for them. Replays with technology nowadays, can simulate the fight in different angles, unlike in the actual fight live where the judges can only see the front side of the fighters they are facing to.

Boxing fans in a nutshell...whine that it was a "robbery" any time there's a close fight, and act like they're genuinely irritated/shocked when a decision is announced even though they should know by now that "controversy" is a part of the sport because of the large room for subjectivity there is in scoring.

I was discussing open scoring once with someone and hashing out the pros and cons to it. The cons that immediately come to mind are that it encourage the winning fighter to adhere to a more defensive strategy and thus taking out the drama. The pros would be that it at least allow fans to know whether or not they're being screwed. I sometimes wish we had something like that in place, but instead of announcing the scorecards after the 4 round and 8 round mark, only announce it at the halfway point and by doing that you give the fighters an idea of what the judges are seeing and they'll adjust accordingly. Announcing scorecards 8 rounds into a championship fight doesn't allow the losing fighter much time to really get some work in because it's usually too late by then.

Just food for thought. Don't everyone gang up on me now. If you all want everything to stay the same, fine by me. You sometimes need to step outside the box and wonder how you can improve a sport that's already niche and swimming in a pool of decades-long perceived corruption and non-regulated system.

I respect your opinion, I mean, at least as a hardcore fan you're taking action by making a meaningful contribution/suggestions/opinions for the betterment of the sport we love. Obviously, we focus on evidence, and the evidence suggests that the boxing sport is still in dire need of some sort of tweaking, otherwise, the frequent controversy won't happen, but, of course it's hard to make a perfect solution, but we can make it as close to perfect as possible if we just open our mind to all the possibilities and don't get stuck up on traditional ways. I mean, why not keep the good from the traditional ways and add additional layer of security/protection or some sort of upgrade if it will make it ultimately better than ever. There is technology out there that's readily available to make it fast, easy and almost foolproof for us and it is fast becoming the man's ultimate best friend, why not use it when it's begging to be.

Does that mean we'd have to wait 3 hours for a decision?

Nah. It'd involve "re-scoring" after the fact, so decisions can be reversed days afterwards. Hilarious.

Yes, I guess 3 hours is reasonable for thorough review, and also yes it's one of the disadvantages making everyone wait and all, but again, the review only happens if there is formal petition complaint from other team within the allowable period, otherwise, the judges decision on fight night stands.

Where do you file a formal petition complaint about the idiocy of this thread at?

why not just eliminate the 3 judges from the picture, eliminate their decisions and just wait 3 hours or so for a decision while somebody reviews the bout frame by frame. It still ends up being a judgement call though.

Because just like in real life when you are accused of violating a law and the evidence is so overwhelming then the judge's decision based on juries will become incontrovertible and the accused will no longer file a petition to review his case on court of appeals.

So in boxing, if the result is so obvious and overwhelmingly one-sided, the team which lost will most probably no longer want to request a petition for review, thus, the judges decision will become final and suffice itself and we save time.

well, one thing for sure, as long as fights go the distance and horrible referring impacts fights along with poor judging, the sport is doomed to wallow in mediocrity.

                      Go back to 15 rounds.
