I don't think MGM will. They would take flack for idolizing a woman beater with multiple convictions.

Preferably one of Floyd beating Manny and embarrassing him.

But maybe your statue would be considered in front of some hotel in the Philippines.

I'm tempted to say yes, but I agree with the post above that it wouldn't feel right seeing that he is just one in a long line of fighters who will be making Vegas money. After all, they've got acts inside the hotel they're trying to sell....so no to having it out outside like Oscar at Staples...but maybe if he commissioned a statue and leased a small part of the MGM somewhere and put it there along with some other nostalgic MGM boxing stuff, that be cool. I agree that he has become synonymous with the MGM much like Tyson so maybe there is a place for it. Basically like the statue in my AV, which is tucked away in a corner inside Cesaers.

48-0 (49, possibly 50-0 at the time of retirement), 12-time world champion in 5 divisions, 4 division lineal champion, and numerous amount of other feats.

It should also be noted that the MGM Grand and Boxing are synonymous with each other. The MGM Grand Garden Arena is THE place for boxing, period. Floyd and MGM have a great relationship and the city of Las Vegas would have no problem with it considering the millions of dollars in revenue he's brought to the city.

Admittedly, I have never been to the MGM Grand Garden Arena before. I'm not really familiar with the layout so I don't know if it would be better suited for the interior or exterior like the Staples Center has it. Is there adequate room outside near the entrance for a statue?

            1. For those who have been, where would you put the statue?

            2. What picture or moment would you use for the statue mold?

            3. What special amenities would you add if any?

As for me, I'd love to use the moment when Floyd jumped up on the turnbuckle after the Pacquiao fight and was mouthing "STRAP ME UP!" as I believe that was an iconic moment. They typically use bland or murky colors for statues so in order to ****e things up a little bit I'd like either his shoes or trunks to be made of pure gold. His mouthguard would be visible and so detailed that you could see the TMT logo. Appreciation of detail is a must. And my statue would be outside near the entrance so everyone can take pictures with it.

There should be two of them, one of him beating up Josie Harris and the second one showing him running from the scene(action) as he does In the ring.

I don't understand the bold. Firstly, they could add more statues of boxers who have showcased their greatest fights at the MGM. It doesn't have to be just Floyd, hell they could add Manny if they want to. But I don't think they will considering MGM and Arum/Top Rank's soggy relationship.

And secondly, I don't understand how an outside statue of Floyd would affect sales for other shows, concerts and promotions. How do any of the statues at the Staples Center affect their dozens of concerts and non-sports related events they host there?
