  • Respect to Lara.

That's what's up, if he's for real then this is exactly right.

Would love to see both of those fights and the culminating fights between any combination of those winners. That's fan friendly stuff right there. Lara would be putting himself in with the killer with much less money involved. Have to respect the sentiment.

Lara vs. GGG intrigues me. I think GGG is just too heavy handed for him though, and too sharp to avoid for an entire fight.

      GGG/Cotto

      GGG/Canelo

      GGG/Ward

      GGG/Kid Chocalate

Despite Ward being a tactician in the ring, at least we know he wont run for dear life when the going gets tough or to avoid engaging his opponent.
You using "entertainment" value before the fight starts suggests you are tying entertainment to the outcome. This is a fight where GGG likely will not get a KO. That doesn't mean the fight will not be entertaining just because that outcome is less likely.

You have no idea what those other fights will be or if they will be entertaining or not. They do not present the same challenge as Lara would.

As for running, GGG would the A side and HBO would ensure to have the smallest ring possible to make it much easier for him to cut the ring off. You are either afraid GGG will lose or you are afraid Lara will make him utilize skills which he may not be proficient at using, so he will not look as good.

What is it with fans who want their favorite fighters to not face the opponents that present the most difficult style matchup? Don't you want GGG to show you he is great?

GGG winning or losing has zero effect on my life.

I'm not one of these diehard sports fanatics that spend days on the sofa watching all types of sports. Boxing is the only sport that I commit myself to and in this sport good matchups are far and in between. With that said, I prefer to watch fights that provide entertainment value whether the fighter I'm rooting for wins or loses.

Can Lara beat GGG, sure. Any fighter can lose on any given day. Even if he were to win it would almost be guartanteed to be a win via a very lackluster performance unless like you said, HBO and the powers that be make it happen in a much smaller ring to prevent Lara from putting on the same track meet performance that he did vs Canelo.

Contrary to what you say I do want to see my favorite fighters face those who pose the biggest threat. If not I would not voice my desire for GGG to face Ward. With a that said, I also want these matchups to be intriguing. Watching GGG chase a guy who has no interest in engaging and instead prefers to run, flick jabs, try to sneak in a punch here and there, and play it safe for 12 rounds does not not intrigue me.

You're right we don't know how the other fights will play out, but because we've seen Lara fight before we can infer what type of fight it's going to be. It's going to be boring. He is going to be retreating all night long. Land a few punches and then run all over the ring. Some people call that skill, most of us call it boring and running.
Why would anyone who pays for HBO and Showtime exclusively for boxing want the networks to pay to watch that guy box? No thanks. Put him on FNF, Fox deportes and let him earn his way to a GGG FIGHT.

If GGG facing an opponent whose style reduces GGG's chances of looking good and winning doesn't intrigue you then what is the point of watching the sport? It's called boxing, not punching.

A loss to Ward has a built in excuse for GGG fans-GGG went up Ward is bigger- and doesn't affect him because most think Ward is better.

Getting outboxed by the smaller Lara or not KOing him is far more damaging to his carefully built up and marketed reputation. It also means he isn't as good as people say.

Great style matchups are usually the most entertaining. WHy you would go away from that makes no sense. Entertainment should not be watching GGG or anyone continually beat up over matched opposition.

I would think a boxing fan would say if GGG can't beat a boxer he should get better at his craft, not avoid the challenge.

If you don't like boxing and moving then perhaps you should try another sport. If GGG doesn't have the skills to prevent what Lara is doing, then he just isn't that good.

Boxing and moving has always been part of the sport. Great fighters learn how to cut off the ring and find proper angles to attack. If guys HBO is mass marketing like Manny and GGG can't do this, that doesn't mean we prevent boxers from getting opportunities against them. They should keep being put in with boxers until they learn the skills needed to beat them.

Great fighters learn all the skills necessary to win against any opponent and any style.

GGG looking good or not looking good is not something that I truly care about to be honest. I'm looking at the quality of the matchup. Not whether Lara would make GGG look bad or not.

If a fighters objective main objective is to make someone else look bad and stink the place out in the process by limiting the action and retreating for the majority of the fight, then its not something that I care to see whether GGG were to win or lose.

I'm a true fan of hip hop, but must I stop listening to it unless I like every single MC? Does that make me a fake fan of hip hop?

There is a difference between using boxing skills and running. I know many people here can't tell the difference but I can. It's actually quite obvious.
Mayweather for example moves, he doesn't run.
Lomachenko moves he doesn't run. Sergio moved but didn't run.
Winky Wright would move and not run.

Lara however runs. I have no I interest in watching that. There might be some who do (mostly Cuban fans) but most don't.

And they do get opportunities. Lara had opportunities as headliner against Vanes, he laid an egg. Big Ppv opportunity against Nelo laid an egg.
                    He's had his chance.

Lara has been in some very good fights with opponents who forced the fight. Golovkin would do the same, and either Lara would step up and deliver a good fight or he'd get folded, like I expect. Either way, something exciting would happen.

Unless you don't think Golovkin is capable of doing what Paul Williams and Alfredo freaking Angulo did. Then you're just underestimating Golovkin.
