Comments Thread For: Glen Tapia Reflects On TKO Loss and Weight Issues

Glen Tapia (23-2, 15 KOs) suffered the second setback of his career this past Friday when he was stopped by Michel Soro. The day before Tapia had issues making the 154 initially failing to make the weight. He came back hours later to the scale and made the limit. After his performance on Friday, Tapia admits that the weight was a problem and it made him feel sluggish.

“I felt slow and sluggish,” Tapia said to BoxingScene.com. “I’m throwing roundhouse punches. Even though I won the 1st round and felt slow. I felt sluggish when I got here. It was in the back of my mind a little bit from the day before.”

talented and athletic kid but seems to lack ring I.Q. Doesn't do well at controlling distance and lingers on the inside too much if hes not gonna be punching. Much room to improve on footwork and defensive skills. His offense is pretty decent but needs a trainer who understands the areas of his game which are lacking. I hope he can bounce back and grow from these fights.

Anything's possible, but damn, going to be a long, LONG road. It's one thing to come back from a KO, but 2 pretty emphatic stoppage losses in a row? That's a tough one.

If he's getting knocked out and hurt by 154 guys, 160 guys will do worse.
