He didn't say he should've withdrawn from the fight completely. He said push it back to September. A contract was signed but an injury, you can't help. Mayweather delayed the fight with Marquez with an injury, Pac could've done the exact samething.Marquez said they already had a signed contract, but it was for May, not September.
The agreement was tenuous enough, Moonves had to be called in to save it at the last minute, if Pacquiao withdrew Mayweather would've just claimed the fantasy W and said "see I told you he didn't want the fight" because that's the sort of man he is.Comment

I just posted that the fight was already in jeopardy and Moonves had to be called in to save it at the last minute. This wasn't a rock solid agreement, it was all tenuous and you can be sure there was no provision for September.
It took Pacquiao 6 years to get Mayweather in the ring, if he delayed it that could have been it. There are no parallels with the Marquez fight which Floyd himself chose as his comeback fight from retirement.
In any event, Pacquiao needed surgery and 4-6 months to heal.Comment

I wouldn't be surprised if he paid off one of the sparring partners to lock arms on a swing just to bring the injury about--that's how much of a gutter-snipe Mayweather is. I'm sure he paid off the judges in the first Bradley fight, too.Comment

I can picture you typing that statement sitting in a closet with a tin foil hat on with the door close thinking Mayweather's next plot is to take over the world with the fight earnings.Mayweather knew about the injury. "Both trainer Freddie Roach and Pacquiao’s longtime adviser Michael Koncz lied to the media when they said Roach gave Pacquiao one week off from sparring because he was worried he would over-train and get burned out. That lie came back to haunt them because if they had come clean and told the media the truth about the injury then they could have had a basis for seeking a postponement of the fight since there was a provision written into the contract that allowed for such an eventuality."I just posted that the fight was already in jeopardy and Moonves had to be called in to save it at the last minute. This is the 3rd time in recent years that Floyd has beaten someone you said he wouldn't fight and look at that it's the third time you've had excuses after the fight.I just posted that the fight was already in jeopardy and Moonves had to be called in to save it at the last minute. This wasn't a rock solid agreement, it was all tenuous and you can be sure there was no provision for September.

I don't know how many times I have to say it. I do not buy that the shoulder injury had any influence on the fight. Did that go in?
Even if that's accurate, and I'm sceptical, Pacquiao needed surgery and 4-6 months to heal. Floyd fights May/September, and he has shown those dates are everything to him, so when was the fight going to take place?could have had a basis for seeking a postponement of the fight since there was a provision written into the contract that allowed for such an eventuality."

Couldn't agree more they've both had great careers and have been great to watch over the years, now they're coming towards the end and it'll be nice seeing them both retire over the next year and let the new generation come through. They've both been great fighters, but neither of them are as hungry as they once were so it's time for the fresh blood to come through and carry the sport.Comment
