Fury is next in line for the shot at Klitschko and Povetkin isn't traveling to Alabama to fight Wilder (and you can bet your bottom dollar that Wilder isn't taking his first title defense in Russia), so try again; to that, you can also add Klitschko being signed to HBO likely dissuading any talk of the fight being put to an open bid (a la the Stevenson-Kovalev fiasco)

I'm cool with a soft touch as long as he fights a few times this year. They should have put this on NBC or CBS though, let casual fans see there is an American heavyweight champ who is knocking almost all of his opponents out.

Homecoming fight are customary thing to do in his situation, I like to see them here and there. Good for him. With the help of his title and an active schedule, hopefully he can make himself into a real attraction this year and bring in some more money to his fights, build a contingent who will travel to his fights (good sports fans in Alabama)..maybe we will be onto somethingComment

boxrec has Molina listed as the opponent now. It's also been reported here:

Showtime is likely bringing the most money to the table for the fight. You add that there's going to be a run of at least 6 PBC from late May through June, and Wilder's hometown defense could get lost in the flux.
(He gets through the fight unscathed, and he's still fighting in September and December, an end of the year fight that will likely end up being one of the primetime NBC broadcasts)Comment
