Unfortunately the good guys won the battle but we lost the war on hate.
Yea that was pretty damn stupid

Apparently like 6 million earthlings...I mean how could you miss the constant coverage, ESPN talked about it non-stop for a week and all weekend long leading up to it, imagine if they did that on the regular Boxing would truly be a mainstream watched sport.

It is better to say Anglo-Saxon since most Mexicans are part white or white. JC Chavez Jr., De la Hoya, Canelo, Soto Karass, Angulo, etc are all white. Mexican is a nationality.

Mexicans were never slaves of the Spaniards just like Americans were never slaves of the Brits.

"had [Santa Anna] treated the vanquished with moderation and generosity, it would have been difficult if not impossible to awaken that general sympathy for the people of Texas which now impels so many adventurous and ardent spirits to throng to the aid of their brethren".
It was not over slavery. Slavery was just a ploy by Santa Anna to gain support within the Texas settlers. Nobody bought it and instead of fearing the Mexican army like Santa Anna had hoped an enraged newly formed militia attacked them with the battle cry remember the Alamo. Santa Anna was captured the following day, and reportedly told Houston: "That man may consider himself born to no common destiny who has conquered the Napoleon of the West. And now it remains for him to be generous to the vanquished." Houston replied, "You should have remembered that at the Alamo". Santa Anna was forced to order his troops out of Texas, ending Mexican control of the province and giving some legitimacy to the new republic

Weird comment considering all the Americans died at the Alamo.

Is the trainer hoping for a double knockout? His guy and the Mexican guY?

the weird part is a lot of the americans didn't know how to use their guns. Just like Kirkland doesn't really know how to box.

that's the myth. i am sure the reality is there was a fight writer to cover all this to tell of the heroic ass kicking the americans took.

I think he'll remember it alright, especially when he stops Kirkland. No offense trainer man, there is a reason why he was a beast under Wolfe and not so much without her. She is a crazy, brutal person but that is what Kirkland needs to be successful.
