  • Could Thurman-Mayweather be in the works for Sept? Look at some of the signs

    1. It's been rumored for months now that Thurman was going to fight Porter in a WW showdown as the June 20th PBC headliner. Now it's been confirmed via Fight Hype that Broner will be replacing Thurman, and will face Porter on that same date at a possible catchweight. Is it just a coincidence that Thurman is now free?

    2. Floyd is always harping on about how it's time for the younger generation to take over the game. He's always giving them great opportunities to shine, even if it means facing them on the big stage.

    3. Thurman has called out Floyd on numerous occasions. He is not afraid to slug it out with the best of the best. He's not just using the media to piggyback off of Floyd's name like others' have in the past. He's legitimately eager to take on the P4P King.

    4. Who else is available? No one wants to see a lopsided win against #48 again. Khan cannot make the fight, and no one wants to see the chinny bum get schooled. He's not a middleweight, so bringing up Cotto and Golovkin is pretty stupid.

What do you think? Are there any more signs of coincidences that you believe may be directly involved in the making of Mayweather vs Thurman?

I probably left out the most important fact. Thurman is actually DESERVING, like all of Floyd's prior opponents.

He's no LWW moving up in weight.

He's not a drained SWW forced to come down in weight. He's a BIG Welterweight with SKILL and POWER.

He's undefeated with a pretty solid streak against some tough WW's. No real "big names" on his resume, but he's still battle tested. And last but not least he hold's a couple of belts.

If you connect the dots, if Broner vs Porter happens. It means most likely that Mayweather vs Thurman will happen.

That's very true. And yes, Fight Hype did confirm that fight is on for June 20th. Originally it was supposed to be Broner vs Judah, and Thurman vs Porter as the main event. We'll see what comes of it.

there's a decent chance he'll be Floyd's next victim. there's not a decent chance he'll do any better than the last handful of opponents though. he has a puncher's chance (say 5%), but that's all. contrary to his reputation, he's not a pressure fighter or a very exciting one. he likes to circle circle circle, fire one or two shots, back up, circle circle circle. this fight will be boring and Floyd will win 10-2.

Thurman is the only entertaining fight left for him at welterweight.

              No

It will either be Khan or Danny

both have a higher profile than Thurmann

That is true, however he is currently being pent up as the next WW "boogeyman" but I honestly believe he has more skill than the prior boogeymen of the WW division. He's definitely got some boxing skill, and he can actually jab. To top things off, everything he throws with comes with power behind it. He can fight as the aggressor but he's also shown that he's able to dictate the pace on the back foot too. Even if it's not as great as other counter punchers. But we do have to remember he's a boxer-puncher so that's expected.

Khan can't fight him because of his religious crap. Plus nobody wants to see that.

I honestly forgot about Danny, but from the looks of it Danny wants to keep his 0 and would rather no fight Floyd. He's making millions regardless if he fights Floyd or not.

If Bundu can frustrate him imagine what Floyd will do.
