I would've thought the drama of the Leo Santa Cruz fight would've made the casuals forget about the ho-hum main event...

Haymon is a puzzling businessman. Here he had a platform to really launch the brand of boxing which would've been in his long term interest financially and instead he completely blows it and may have actually hurt the market for the PBC.

Investment-wise he should've had some of his big PBC money go for a couple of super-fights last night to satisfy casual fans in case the main-event went like we expected it to go.

They should watch wrestling. It's like people don't realise that boxing isn't scripted: the so called villain of the story is not destined to lose and a brutal back and forth slugfest is not guaranteed.

Floyd went out there are boxed. Actual fans of the sport would appreciate the technique he put on display. For years people wondered how to neutralise Pacquiao's straight left down the pipe; Mayweather revealed the answer and few are interested. For years people wondered how Mayweather would cope with the work rate *chuckles* of Pacquiao; Mayweather releaved the answer and few are interested. People wondered how Mayweather would handle someone with the speed of Pacquiao; Mayweather showed that it wasn't an issue and few are interested.

What the above shows is that the interest wasn't genuine. It was more about people slobbering over Pacquiao and hyping someone to beat him. Had there been a legitimate interest, people would take note of the answers given.

It's possible that it would have been a source of contention. I'm going to say it is the definitive answer, but if you were Arum would you want a rival boosting the prestige of his fighters on the event?

It would have been a case of Arum wanting to put Crawford on the card. For casuals that would have been great, but business wise they had enough difficulty talking at the table to begin with.

The only people who say this are the ones who wanted Floyd to surrender his defense and countering and allow Pac to get free shots.

        Manny blew it....til Roach came!

Its pretty simple. You have one guy everyone knew was going to be running and hugging, you have another guy chasing him trying to fight him... the guy that runs and hugs wins the fight and gets called the best ever.
This was called "the fight of the century". For a lot of people, this was the first fight they ever saw or paid real attention to.
If that's all you ever get to know about boxing, sure, it would suck for your too and you'd never bother watching the same BS ever again.
So yes, more damage than good. That's Floyd to boxing.

You must know that most on the internet don't know **** 'bout no boxing.

The sport survived Dempsey/Carpentier, it will survive Floyd/Pac.

The only reason the fight sold as it did was the fact that Pacs fans refused to admit that Pac was going down the other side of the mountain already.

Boxing is half about the fight and half about salesmanship. They sold it and you bought it. End of thread, take responsibility for your actions by educating yourself about the sport before making unfounded claims.......

Was last night's fight good for boxing in the public eyes?

                What do you guys think?

What were the reactions of the people you were watching it with?

I sat in a house with probably 60-40 Pac to May fans and after the fight, the Pac fans said they are completely done with boxing, lol.

Not surprised because they were bitter, but they kept repeating it was such a boring fight. I'm wondering if they think that referring to just Mayweather and their anger, or to the entire match and are just pissed because of the money they spent and left disappointed.

These are similar guys I've watched other big PPVs with that turned out to be a bust.

But with that said, if the entire world watching thought the fight was boring, is this a good look for the sport and it's growth?

Blame Manny, Floyd isn't the same as he was he didn't look great in this fight. All I thought was how ****ty Manny did falling for the same thing over and over. He can't cut off the ring and that was before we got into the physical disadvantages. I'll admit and I fell for the Manny hype a little bit, but I knew this was going to happen when it was first announced. Look what JMM was able to do to Manny, forget the KO he took him to the limit.

Floyd is bigger, stronger, faster, smarter, longer and just better than JMM in every way. Hype made me think Manny would do better, but he never had the tools to beat Floyd.

I agree, as a boxing fan I enjoyed seeing Floyd's skill on display but the whole point of events like this is to attract casuals to this sports to make it as big as football, basketball and so on. This certainly didn't live up to the hype but then again, what was everyone expecting? Floyd to turn into brawler?

Whats with this "running and hugging" nonsense when Floyd out landed and out threw Pacquiao? And forget the casual fans.
