Comments Thread For: Mayweather Ready: I'll Be Very Aggressive, Attack Early

Floyd Mayweather says he is going to come out swinging and be the aggressor early against Manny Pacquiao when they meet in the super fight this weekend in Las Vegas.

The 38-year-old Mayweather, who is putting his undefeated record on the line to fight Filipino icon Pacquiao at the MGM Grand, usually needs a few rounds to feel out and adjust to his opponent's game plan.

"I am going to approach it in a very, very aggressive way and go out there and press the attack early," Mayweather said.

"Of course I would love to win by knockout. I am pretty sure he is going to come at me extremely strong.

    Ummmm....that is the wrong strategy.

Walking into Manny's wheelhouse has not worked out well for anybody. I will be mightily impressed if Floyd fights/wins this way.

mayweather has never fought a fight that "didn't work out well" for him considering he has never lost.

It'll be interesting to see if he really plays it this way. In one way, it would make sense that he would rather be attacking Manny than trying to endure the "buzzsaw". Manny is far more awkward to deal with than the predictable punchers Floyd usually fights. Not to mention faster. However, countering is his bread and butter and I can't see him straying from that in such an important fight.

He's going to take the centre of the ring and pick Pacquiao off as he jumps in.

Oh snap, May is attacking early.

That means somewhere in the neighborhood of round 8 or 9, we can expect fireworks!

I kind of think the same way, only I actually think Mayweather will come forward.

He never implied a loss and it would be foolish to say that Floyd has never had trouble with a fighter. Floyd even had his hands full with a few guys that Manny steamrolled. Acting like Mayweather can dictate this fight is hugely uninformed. They both are going to be facing the toughest opponents in their careers.

I think he'll try that and pick him apart at the end of his reach, a'la Morales v Pac I. However, many has stopped leaping in recently and he's also gotten good at eating a punch to get in and deliver two of his own. This is one of those great fights were the possibilities can be endlesslypondered.
