If you close the gap on Pac you are doing the hardest part of his job for him in a lot of ways. If I was Mayweather I'd be looking to stay outside stepping to Manny's right for most the fight, if Pac gets too close you have to step in and clinch, or counter if the opportunity is there. Occasionally lead to keep Pac from feeling comfortable.
The Marquez game plan but with some clinching thrown in.

The problem with boxing (problem #1 in more detail)
Problem #1 (this might apply to some other sports too)
Boxing is a lot (or too much) about being an ego-maniac obsessed with yourself and with not losing. Now, I am not hating ego-maniacs or anything (whish them well and speedy recovery). And I’m really not swiping at Floyd here, even though it might look that way (given that he’s such a highly driven athlete).
But consider this HYPOTHETICAL situation:
You have two kids being born and they are EQUALLY gifted for sports (athleticism, reflexes, agility/coordination, etc). Just one difference between them: one is a nice, normal, modest and laid-back guy, while the other is basically a selfish/self-absorbed guy, the kind that usually are so driven they end up becoming ego-maniacs that fear defeat more than anything.
Now, we ASSUMED they are equally gifted but ask yourself: who’s gonna do better in his boxing career? It’s common sense that the ego-maniac is the one who will train like a demon 24/7, as if his very life is on the line. And this will give him the edge.
So he will end up beating the nice guy (equally gifted in every sense!!!) in some historic fight, and all us dummies will be screaming/hyperventilating as if a once-in-a-lifetime talent just made history. But what we are really witnessing/celebrating… is him being an ego-maniac and getting the edge because of it (remember we hypothesized they are equally gifted).
We would say with gravity things like: “we’ll never again see such a gifted boxer”, “it was an honor to witness this”, “the loser is great too but just couldn’t match this God given talent”... And all these would be just plain ****** things to say and we would just be celebrating the consequences of being an ego-maniac.
Realizing this makes me uneasy about being too big of a boxing fan. How about you?

The problem with boxing (problem #2 in more detail)
Problem #2 with boxing.
The LESS courage you need to get in the ring and fight… the MORE this sport will reward you!
What really takes a ton of courage/guts is climbing between the ropes to face a vastly superior, stronger and faster fighter bent on taking your head off. If you are in that situation… boxing will not reward you as much he will reward your opponent, who, unlike you, doesn’t need much guts to fight since he’s so much better.
This cannot be a good thing, it has nothing to do with fairness and, for me, it’s kinda embarrassing to be a part of this.

There be no knockouts or knockdowns here. But money be doing what money do best: a big points win in a fight he controls.

Reading 95% of the comments on here I can TELL not many people here actually laced a pair of gloves before and got inside the ring and BOXED.
Comparing Pacquiao to Judah is ridiculous. Zab had all the potential in the world to be something special but never had the mental fortitude to dedicate himself to the sport of boxing, and thus became a 4 round fighter (he faded in the middle rounds).
Say what you want about Mayweather, you will never see him out of shape for a fight because he is committed to the sport of boxing in ways many of you cannot understand. His focus is unmatched and I believe tomorrow will be the culmination of Floyd's career. I think he wants to shut up a lot of people that even contemplate this fight being close.

Roger, Senior, and Floyd all said (in the 24/7 leading up to ODLH) that they don't go into the ring with a gameplan. They go in with the understanding that Floyd will figure it out over the first 3 or 4 rounds. In a weird way, it makes sense. Why would you develop a gameplan on how to handle someone when you don't even know what their plan is. Better to get a sense of what their strategies are and then develop your own.
There are two guarantees to remember with Floyd. One, he wins. Two, he does so with one punch pot shots and counters.

Lots of guys(including me) have said that Floyd will be walking Pac down in this fight for years and have been called idiots & f*mos for it. Watch and see doesn't it happen! I can't wait! How ironic it will be for the "coward duck" to be walking down the "warrior" and getting the best of the him. Floyd is looking to make a statement in this fight.Last edited by megadeth; 05-01-2015, 02:30 PM.
