No one is applauding it. Some are trying to justify it, but no one is happy or pretending it's a great fight.

agreed. dissing lara while talking up monroe jr as a proponent of the "cuban style" is not cool. if there are political reasons why you can't face lara, just say so. otherwise, make him an offer

Doesn't anyone here actually follow boxing? No one seems to have the slightest clue about what is going on in the sport.
Anything you just said change the fact that I'll be disappointed if the fights don't happen? Nope. He has 4 legit opponents at 160 still. 2 won't fight him(Quillin, Cotto) and 1 fight probably can't be made(Jacobs actually Quillin to lol)) and one fight could be made but it will be down the road a bit(Lee).

I'm not ****ting on GGG, I'm all for unifying a division, I actually hold that in much higher regard than a lineal championship. But if no one will fight you are you really going to spend years of your career knocking out people that have no business in the ring with you? Fight Lara at a catch weight as that is a fight that can certainly be made and no fighting at 157 or 158 is'nt going to destroy his health. He makes 160 easily weighing in at 159 for his last two bouts. Andrade could easily do 160, but I doubt he takes the fight as he has made several statements about unifying 154, but I'll say the same thing to him I am to GGG. Make and take the best fights available to you, period.

Even without the Haymon factor, Lara is not a big name and brings nothing to the table. He is not an exciting fighter and has no title. Let him move up to 160 and make a name for himself there and maybe in a year or two he can get a fight when his contract with Haymon is over. Until then he should stick with PBC where he belongs.

I love that people whine and cry because Cotto is a small middleweight, even though he holds the lineal title, but in their next post they want GGG to fight someone from a lower division and cry because he doesn't make them an offer. Make up your minds.

Who is talking up Monroe as a proponent of 'Cuban style'? I've seen nothing mentioning that at all.

Maybe they want exciting fights on their network, not snore fests like Lee - Quillin.

i have never used the excuse small anything if you hold a title in weight class then you not small for nothing Lara has a bigger name then Monroe jr so what is Monroe bringing that Lara can't gotta stop with the haymon bs when we had lomo vs Russell jr on HBO last year

Lara can be in good fights with someone who is capable of making him fight, which Golovkin would. The boring excuse doesn't work here. I think Lara gets slaughtered, but it's still a better fight than Monroe.

HBO said no last year, but I don't think Golovkin's promoter even tried this time. They were talking 3 names before the Murray fight was over, and ended up picking one of those 3 names. No one else entered the discussion.
