Comments Thread For: Frampton's Manager Blames Hearn For Quigg Fallout

World champion Carl Frampton will not be fighting Scott Quigg this summer, according to the former's manager and promoter Barry McGuigan.

It was hoped Belfast fighter Frampton, the IBF super-bantamweight champion, and Bury boxer Quigg, who holds a portion of the WBA title, would meet in July in a huge Battle of Britain showdown.

But McGuigan said Quigg's team would not agree on a 60-40 purse split in favour of Frampton and blamed Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn for the way the talks have collapsed.

"It's sad for the fans because we wanted it to happen," McGuigan told BBC Sport.

"Carl was willing to travel to England to put his title on the line, and when the champion does that he normally gets the majority of the purse.

Sounds very reasonable from Barry. But Frampton can now kiss goodbye being paid PPV money. Sadly Hearn controls SKY BOX OFFICE so controls everything. It's a shame Frampton will be fighting for an audience of housewives and grandmas on ITV.

      He's absolutely correct.

Eddie Hearn ruined this fight because he never truly wanted it in the first place

Rigondeaux said he is sitting out his contract, didn't he? He'll probably sign with Haymon or Roc Nation and finally get some proper promotion/money behind him.

            Not sure this is correct,

After all what good is Scott Quigg without the Carl Frampton fight?

Hearn wants the fight, for the same reason he want the Khan v Brook and DeGale v Groves fights. Because it lines his pockets massively and he hopes that once Frampton has tasted Box Office success that he'll continue to work Matchroom, whilst Quigg gets thrown on the scrap heap. Scott Quigg is a key to Carl Frampton and that's why Hearn was so quick to sign Quigg after Frampton left.

I think in the other fights, he's more confident of his guy winning.

Everyone knows Frampton will beat Quigg without any shenanigans. The deal is simple - 60/40 straight up to Frampton and the fight happens.

an audience numbering in the millions, which a ppv featuring quigg will never get or any of his jaunts on skysports.

60/40 to the winner is fair. 60/40 to Frampton for a loss isn't. Frampton's team got greedy. He should sack his advisers, they let him down.
