Any real boxing fans on here that aren't race supporters or am I the only one?

As I said, some people do tend to go overboard with their loyalty.

It happens in other sports too, (albeit race is not always involved), but people can be blindly loyal in other sports too. Remember the SF Giant fans who loved Bonds knowing full well he was on Roids? Uruguay and their loyalty to Luis Suarez. etc etc.

It's kind of what makes the support fun. People supporting their own.

Are there some people who go overboard? Of course. Just like in anything else.
This...if there are 2 fighters and I know nothing about them and I hear nothing from them before the fisticuffs commence, I'm usually gonna' back the American. It may not last more than 30 secs of the first round, but to start with, my nationalism will be the deciding factor assuming all others being equal.

I have no regrets regarding this position.

TS wants to be a goody goody...I only excuse that from Andre Ward.

I'm not a race supporter. But I do support a lot of African American fighters, A lot of Japanese fighters, and a lot of Cuban fighters.

I'm with you op. I look at every fighter, just like I do any person I meet, as an individual first and foremost. I have favorite fighters from every walk of life, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I admit that the nationalism involved in boxing can make for some heated and fun fight crowds, but personally it doesn't affect me.
