George has a point from a talent standpoint but Ali's resume sh.its all over Floyd's.

I love Ali but have you really looked at his resume as a whole not just fighters and if that's the case it ****s on all boxers ...I love Tyson but he fights a lot of bums and out if prime fighters and Ko but nobody and beat up in 2 biggest fights and no doubt Floyd resume is better than pacs ...no question ...

Nobody is even close to Ali.

I think we can agree that the HW division in the 70s is a million times stronger, smarter and better than today's group.

Floyd and Pacquaio are great today. But....

If they fought in 1980, they'd only be on par with Wilfred Benitez, Sugar Ray Leonard, Alexis Arguello, Aaron Pryor, Tommy Hearns, Roberto Duran and Marvelous Marvin Hagler --- and probably some other dudes.

Ward, GGG and Rigondeaux are awfully good.

But overall I'd say today's boxers are beneath previous eras. Maybe close. But they sure as hell aren't better.

No, If they fought in the 80s, Mayweather and Pacquiao would have stayed at lower weight classes and went on to be known as two of, if not THE (In their own divisions) greatest Featherweights/Lightweights in Boxing history and their megafight would have solidified one of them as top 15 ATG

They only moved up because it was perfect timing, there were no REAL threats in the higher weight classes because they are clearly the two best fighters from this era, the 80s would have been totally different. They would have stayed in their lane, and it would have enhanced their legacies

Moving up weight classes is great for accolades and all that, but thats also what led to alot of 'ducking' accusations that taint legacies for many fighters today

If all those fighters were fighting in THIS era, an era where Andre Ward can make 3 million fighting Edwin Rodriguez and Mayweather can make 200 million in one night, I promise you, all of those fighters would have made 'business' decisions and avoided the fights that defined them back then

Different era, different fighters, theres no measuring stick to compare them, but the fact is, fighters of today, are indeed stronger, faster, smarter and better conditioned

I don't think he was talking about greatness, he was talking about technical proficiency. Floyd is one of the most technically sounds boxers ever. Ricardo Lopez is the only boxer I can think of who is also as sound technically. Roy, Ali, SRL, and Sweet Pea did things that cannot be taught to another fighter. They had very special gifts in the ring. Floyd's talent level ( speed, quickness, power, foot speed, and reflexes) is no better than Zab or a lot of other good fighters. He never gets sloppy, stays focused for the full fight, makes great adjustments on the fly, and stays sharp. Ricardo Lopez was the same. SRL was almost as good a pure boxer as Floyd, but he could drop it and fight too. I don't think Floyd can fight that way, but he is one of the best pure boxers ever. Everything Floyd does can be taught, same as Lopez, they excelled in the application of their knowledge in their craft. No trainer would try teach a kid to fight like Ali or Roy, but Lopez and Floyd are like reading a textbook on the sport.

floyd goes to hell and back to beat maidana, a guy easily dispatched by devon alexander. .how df is he "tbe" .. he ducks pwill, margarito and winky to fight baldomir, zab and mitchell, he "retires" to avoid the oscar rematch, and takes half a decade to fight pacquiao .. foreman is smoking that og Kush with the ****** sh-t he talking.
