Nobody is even close to Ali.
I think we can agree that the HW division in the 70s is a million times stronger, smarter and better than today's group.
Floyd and Pacquaio are great today. But....
If they fought in 1980, they'd only be on par with Wilfred Benitez, Sugar Ray Leonard, Alexis Arguello, Aaron Pryor, Tommy Hearns, Roberto Duran and Marvelous Marvin Hagler --- and probably some other dudes.
Ward, GGG and Rigondeaux are awfully good.
But overall I'd say today's boxers are beneath previous eras. Maybe close. But they sure as hell aren't better.Comment

Foreman is right... Boxers today are smarter, faster, stronger than fighters 30 years ago. It's the truth. Smarter is on a case by case basis though.
In every sport...from basketball, baseball, football, AND boxing... athletes are better conditioned.
They have access to the best facilities, training methods and nutrition,..and education on their sport.
The people who disagree are just too nostalgic/sensitive about their era and the glory days of boxing.Comment

No Bias, No BS just his honest opinion, that is why I miss Big George on HBO
I totally get what he is saying on the Athletes being Better as well as his opinion/prediction on the fight.
When it comes to Ali and Michael Jordan, it is NO WAY you're going to convince people that Today's athletes are better than the Legends before them and that is totally understandable.
Yes Mayweather is a more talented fighter than Ali and he is more SKILLED All Around than Ali Was, yes Ali had his Flaws he was head hunter and I struggle video to find videos of him fighting INSIDE and going to the Body vs his Opponents.
Ali in this ERA would be accused as a Running just like most of the fighters who using their footwork to their advantage like Ali Did. Ali Used his Footwork and Clinch so these same people who Kiss Ali ASS would be the same to label him a Running like they do Mayweather or a Cheat like they do Ward because Ali use to Clinch as wellLast edited by sicko; 04-24-2015, 05:03 PM.Comment

Training helps in sports where size matters. Boxing has weight classes, and size doesn't matter.
Boxers have always been in monster condition. They used to fight 15 rounds. Before that they fought with no limits on rounds.
And back in the day, more great athletes went into boxing. Today they go into other sports.
Look at the heavyweights today. God they're sad.Comment

Foreman Is PunchDrunk
Don't compare Ali to anyone. Nobody fought in a tougher era, fought the caliber of fighters in their prime, multiple times, win, lose or draw, on neutral grounds all over the world than Ali. Comparing Floyd to Ali is insulting to Ali. What idiots.Comment

Foreman is saying this generation on a whole. Foreman thinks Pacquiao is greater than Mayweather as well."This is a better generation BY FAR," Foreman tells us ... "They're smarter, they're stronger, they're overall just better fighters."
Put a prime Ali in the ring with a prime Mayweather and see what happens though.Comment
