Even Michel acknowledges Hbo contract issue for Kovalev. Its really not very controversial. If there's doubt's about Divas intentions, talk to HBO. Or keep fighting scrubs and passing on name fights, as is their track record

Hershman said they're very interested in matching Kovalev with Ward. Won't happen this year, but neither will Stevenson Beterbiev, and that's nowhere near as big.

They have the opportunity to outbid Haymon. HBO is a large company. Outbid him and get the fight on the network.

I think the very large bid made on the Dirrell/DeGale fight, which exceeded the competitors bid by almost $1 mil, shows that Haymon is willing to over bid for fights.

I think the sports business journal article shows the vast resources he has to obtain fights.

I can't think of another reason why you would pull out of a purse bid that, if you won, would settle this issue easily.

I think there is no way DUva would go to the WBC with this proposal unless she checked with HBO first. HBO is not some small, rookie organization. They knew the stakes here.

So knowing the above, I strongly disagree that pulling out is not an acknowledgement that she wouldn't win.

He's got a contract with HBO that prohibits this. OTOH Stevensons best bet is 50/50 vs Kovalev on HBO, and he has no contractual issues. Why do you think he'll pass on the best deal available to him?

Your looking at this situation with biased eyes. Kovalev by accepting the purse bid won't make as much money by going on HBO and fighting a rematch with Pascal. At least Stevenson can fight Beterbiev who is one of the hottest contenders in the division.

I DESTROYED Stevenson a year ago for ducking Kovalev and running to ShowTime. It was disgraceful what he did.

But now the fight can be made. Both sides apparently wanted it and the fighters were going to maximize their value by letting it go to bid. But now after demanding a purse bid, Duva backs out. And they deserve the SAME exact criticism for this that Stevenson got a year ago.

It is as simple as this. I can bash Duva and Main Events with fervor because I did the same when Stevenson went to showtime. Why can't people be as unbiased as we are when it comes to these things and look at them rationally?

Bob wasn't afraid to lose, he made a strong, competitive bid. Lost, and went on with business. That is what Kathy should do.

There is no leg Kathy/Kov can stand on. She is positioning Kov to get loads of money for low quality fights, the same thing posters killed Stevenson/haymon for.

And Duva's withdrawal can't be an acknowledgement of that since she doesn't know what their bid will be.

It's an acknowledgement that she doesn't know how much Haymon's side will bid.

Whoa, dude, no one ever knows in advance how much the other side will bid. Promoters dont make their plans public ahead of the bidding date.

Turns out Haymon has a huge war chest and doesn't mind taking heavy losses early on. Bidding vs Haymon is what brought down HBO boxing, theyre not in that business anymore. They'd make a responsible bid, much better than anything else Stevensons got going. Don't forget that Stevenson doesn't only get network money, but also a cut of Canada ppv and gate money, both highly dependent on opponent choice
