What's the point? Team Kovalev already made their excuses last time out, or have they change their minds again and are now willing to participate in the purse bid?

The problem last time is Kovalev has a contract with HBO and the fight can only happen if it's going to be aired on HBO. But if it goes to a purse bid Kathy knows Haymon will overbid her to force the fight to be on PBC. Honestly this fight should be on HBO for many reasons the biggest being is HBO is better quality then PBC. Stevenson has no contract with any individual network so it's a lot easier for him to fight on HBO then it is for Kovalev to fight on PBC. But we all know Haymon wants to control everything and will never allow it.

PBC has $400M in investment money behind it. HBO can't hang.

If Haymon finances a promoter that is the same as acting as a promoter himself which would put him in violation of the Ali Act and he should be charged under that Act if necessary.
Man that's a whole can of worms. Everyone knows Haymon is basically the promoter but uses these BS tactics to avoid getting busted by the Ali Act. So he has stooge Promoters that bid the amount he tells them to. Even though they aren't actually paying a dime of it. It's really Haymon who is paying it and then pays the promoter a small fee for their troubles. It's so damn shady and basically circumvents the rules behind the purse bid in the first place. I'm surprised the Govt has gone after Haymon since it's really the worse kept secret in Boxing that he's pulling all the strings.

HBO can't hang? You obviously have no clue about what you are talking about. PBC is a mouse compared to the lion that is HBO. HBOs parent company is Time Warner which has $100 Billion in just assets not to mention investments.

What baffles the hell out of me is why other promoters and managers have not filed formal complaints about Haymon? If it is so obvious to even a blind man, what needs be done before some legal authority opens their eyes to what is going on? The Ali Act was created expressly to prevent someone like Haymon coming along and doing what he is trying to do.

Try something like this in a major sport like baseball or basketball or football and see how far you get. Damn, look what happens to football players who knock their wives around! Another one was suspended today for smacking his ex-girlfriend around over a year ago. Get accused of racism and the NBA will force you to sell your team. Try to control boxing and fighters and no one looks twice at it.

This is the time for big fights to get made, people's eyes are going to be on boxing. If the sanctioning bodies and promoters can come together for eye catching fights then the sport will grow bringing more fans and more revenue for them.

The reason is that Kovalev cannot fight on another network. Even if she loses the bid, either the fight is on HBO or it is not on at all. Makes the bidding process totally pointless in this particular case.
