I still can't believe Kovalev's side walked from the purse bid. They knew it was coming the second he beat Pascal. I thought it was the entire reason they wanted Kovalev to become the WBC mandatory to begin with. If Duva doesn't do everything she possibly can to make this fight, she and Kovalev will deserve all the scorn that comes their way. Even she does, they'll still deserve blame for walking from the purse bid.

Duva knew that it would probably lead to a purse bid when she asked the WBC to make Kovalev their mandatory. She even asked that it should be a 50/50 split.

But she didn't know that GYM were going to request an immediate bid, as soon as Stevenson beat Bika, or that the WBC would agree to it. That seemed to take her by completely by surprise.

Kathy Duva offered a 50-50 split, televised by HBO PPV.

                Haymon/Adonis the Duck declined.
