  • Comments Thread For: Hyde Reacts To Rigondeaux 'Change is Coming' Claim

WBA/WBO super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux and his current manager Gary Hyde have had their fair share of ups and downs over the years.

A few days ago, Rigondeauxs denied the information contained in a recent press release which stated he would be traveling over to the UK to confront 'regular' WBA champion Scott Quigg. He denied making any of the statements that were contained in the press release.

Rigondeaux says his contract with Hyde is set expire in September. The Olympic two-time gold medal winner is looking forward to what he believes to be a new dawn in his career, but is not revealing any information regarding what changes are going to take place. Rigondeaux (15-0, 10 KO) seems to be looking to sit out until contract with Hyde expires.

Damn Hyde got him in one of those Never Ending Deals WTF?

All this time most we're led to beleive that Caribe Promotions was the problem and not Hyde

I said this when the top rank deal expired and got roasted for it...but here comes further proof.

"Rigo would rather sit by the pool in chancletas than go search for opportunities..he expects the world to come to him"

Yet you see guys come along and show up to every possible event they can attend to be in front of the cameras. Crawford is a prime example of this..you see Crawford at most big fights, you see Lomancheko at plenty of fights, you see all these guys hungry for the spotlight..Hell you seen all of Haymon's stars at the peterson fight this past week. Rigo is a once in a lifetime type of fighter but he's a in a fk up situation where the people who handle him don't have enough pull to trigger things for him and he refuses to help his case by being pro-active. Haymon might make things easier for him but the general public needs to see you, the general public needs to hear you in interviews regularly. You can't expect the whole world to come to Florida for you bruh. The top two fighters in the world do the rounds from time to time between fights too, and these are guys that don't actually have to but they do because it's part of the business. If people aren't seeing you they aren't thinking of you, that's why its called P.R.

How come the dudes who're always giving lectures about business can't see Hyde's side of things here?

He's invested years of his life and shit loads of money into Rigo. Why would you expect him to be ok with Rigo just waiting out his contract?

                Damn Promoter's and their contracts

Boxer's have to be smarter and insist on clauses that protect both themselves and their careers. Ward, Micky Garcia, Rigondeaux and others have been sitting out the better part of their careers because of contract disputes.

So Caribe got Rigo an 18 month/ fight contract for $450k, while Hyde got Rigo an 18 month/3 fight contract for $1.8M.

Yeah, so basically Rigo likes Caribe because they get him bling.

Don't see the problem. It's only extending because Rigo refuses to fight. That's pretty standard in boxing contracts. Hyde invested money in this guy, and he's refusing to fight. It's on fair that Hyde gets a return on his investment.
