At this point he needs to fight. Who it's against doesn't really matter. Just get back in the ring.

I met SOG at the HOF in Canastota, NY last summer (2014) on the VIP gala. I asked him when he was going to fight next. He replied "soon, real soon". I told the champ "good, 'cause people need to see you fight!".

It's been 10 months since that meeting, and although I'm happy that ROC Nation signed him making a big splash of it, this TBA "gimme" opponent for his Oakland June fight is complete nonsense and rubs me the wrong way.

Andre Ward is not a spring chicken anymore. He can fight gimme fights during sparring if he wants, but give us something to look forward to. Go to London and kick Froch's butt again. You're no longer on P4P lists because of your absence. You're no longer the draw you once were.

I don't believe in ring rust as some people do; it's all in the preparation.
      C'mon SOG!

What kind of post is this? Quite aside from how he looks, Froch is on all the PFP lists.

Ward is not hype. He's an elite, technical fighter. Certainly one of the best fighters out there. He is also one of the most self-defeating figures in the sport due to his inactivity. He's on his way to becoming the next Winky Wright.

It's a tough road but as previously stated; he needs to just get out there and fight. 3+ fights a year, get out there and do work. He's mistaken if he thinks he can rest on his laurels at this point. I'm worried that he's mentally arrived to a state of mind that doesn't match up with where his career actually is yet.

If he wants a tuneup, fine. He needs to understand that he needs to accept very little money for it and will probably be on the undercard of someone else's fight.
I think you need to understand that you're in no position to dictate what he should or shouldn't accept as payment.

honestly ggg vs ward is the most intriguing fight there is after pac mayweather. were talking arguably the new 1 and 2 p4p when they are done lets just hope fan politics and everything else can take a side step so we can start demanding it then after they fight if ward wins we can start demanding he fight one the killers at 175. well see what happens i just feel like im the only one who wants to see ggg vs ward badly

I agree that Ward vs. Golovkin is a really intriguing fight. I think there are (unfortunately) a lot of variables that could stop it from ever happening too though. I think Golovkin will most likely continue to campaign at 160 unless he actually makes a fight with Chavez Jr.

Meanwhile Ward could look up or down the scale and find incredibly intriguing challenges. It's a pick your poison scenario for him whether it's Golovkin or Kovalev's direction he wants to look toward.

Ward could try to make a fight with Chavez Jr. as well. It's an interesting set of possibilities between 160-175 and Ward's name is definitely in the mix across an interesting spectrum of possibilities.

Avoiding Andre Ward? Is it really necessary for anybody to do that?

Let me put it this way, there's a zoo with a big cat enclosure about 20 miles down the road from where I live.

I've never gone there and tried to break into any of the cages. Does that mean I'm avoiding the lions and tigers?

Ward may be a millionaire but he's had a mediocre boxing career at best. In 2015 he's grossing less than what guys used to get paid in 1986. These younger boxers are more accomplished than him. For me Ward has had his run outside of GGG Kovalev or Stevenson, not interested in boring Ward fights. Truth be told Mayweather will be the last pure boxer fans will want to see on a large scale, at least he challenges himself, here u have lil old Mayweather well into his 30's taking on guys literally 2 weight classes above himself and 10 yrs his junior while Ward scared to death to move up 6 pounds, it's a joke...The difference between Great and good...
