It seems to me it was her initial intention for it to go to purse bid until she found out PBC had larger pockets than she though.
I don't think she ever expected GYM and Haymon to go through with it. I think she figured that with the mandatory position and a lot of pressure that Stevenson would vacate the title before taking the chance to fight Kovalev and she figured wrong. Now she is in it up to her neck with no way out other than to try and negotiate with HBO to allow Kovalev to take a fight off contract with another network if required.

The links to the letters in that article are posted in the wrong order.

The first link isn't to Duva's letter, as stated, but to Michel's reply. The second link is to Duva's letter.

This is not a good look for Duva and Main Events. At all.

Haymon was gonna slap Duva in the face with money.

I would find this funny if I didn't really want to see that fight.

This whole ordeal speaks to what is going to be a huge issue and somehow HBO and PBC need to find a way that they can work together. I can't hold my breathe because I know how arrogant HBO is and Haymon has just as much of an ego so hard to see where either side bends.

On the plus side competition is good because both sides will push the other but unless they can like line up a Super Bowl between the brands on an annual basis (like the original NFL-AFL Super Bowls) the more things change the more they stay the same.

Something stinks about it for sure. Not sure what Duva's motivation is

Duva's motivation is they have exactly 1 stallion and a couple other horses that are on their way to the glue factory. They can't mess up with their trump card, and right now HBO wants that card which keeps that door open for her other talent.

Bob Arum if he wanted could tell HBO to get ****ed, and has in the past Duva that is cutting her own throat she has to play to their tune.

That is a good card for HBO to have though because that is a fight that needs to happen, but it would be nice to see the sides do some horse trading to actually reach common goals. It certainly is not impossible but the sides have to want to make it happen.

How about the success of PBC hurts small-time promoters like Duva?

LMFAO hard to argue anything in that letter I agree with Michel on this one but I understand Duva business move and teaming with HBO to keep Kovalev. You have to SECURE your PRIZE FIGHTER. Only issue is that HBO really don't have any big fights for Kovalev...Isaac Chilemba I guess?

So not only did you ruin the Stevenson fight but also potentially a Chavez Jr fight which would have been huge, Arthur Beterbiev, those are fights that could have really enhance his legacy. This could be a move that he regrets in about a year or so when HBO is struggling to find him BIG Fights in a division that is really not that great and the other top fighters are all with Haymon and because of a exclusive HBO deal he won't be able to fight them either

Yeah. It's not like Duva was ever gonna win a pursebid.

By asking for the early pursebid, GYM outsmarted Main Events in a big way. The result being that we the fans likely misses out on one of boxings best matchups. As it stands now, Duva is to blame.

More to come on this story I think.
