No, they are not. Stevenson does not have an exclusive network contract. Kovalev does. If he was to breach the terms of that contract he would be sued by HBO and that may well keep him out of the ring for over a year in litigation. Just ask Ward.

If they were serious, the WBC would have had the purse bid in the summer.

Stevenson is still ducking, but it seems his promoter's PR skills have improved by putting Main Events into an awkward position.

That being said, once again Duva didn't deal with the situation as wisely as she should have.

Maybe Sergey Kovalev should get a promoter with more money and influence (like Golden Boy or Rabinsky).

I think Duva still should have done the pursebid. If she had lost Kovalev could have given up the belt that Muhamedi was mando for and just wait for the Stevenson fight. Or just fight Muhamedi followed by Stevenson. I think she dropped the Ball here.

when Kathy reached out to the WBC to make Kov the mandatory, Stevenson DID have a showtime deal. THis point has no merit.

1st, Kovalev finished his exclusive HBO deal with his last fight. He was a free agent. He knew the purse bid was coming up. He didnt have to re-up with HBO now before the bid even took place. Duva says he did but we dont even know that for a fact. Not only that, but you know damn well HBO can release him for one fight if they want to.

2nd, Haymon has every right to bankroll whoever the hell he wants. Promoting and bankrolling are two completely seperate things. You are blatantly misrepresenting the facts when you talk about the Ali Act. Haymon can invest in his fighters since he stands to profit from them doing well. Thats common friggin sense.
