Comments Thread For: Photos: Chavez Jr. Getting in Work For Fonfara Clash

Former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chávez Jr. will finally end a layoff of more than a year, as he continues camp with his veteran coach Joe Goossen at his trainer's gym located in Van Nuys, California.

Chavez Jr. will be facing Poland's Andrzej Fonfara on April 18th at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. The WBC international light heavyweight championship is up for grabs.

“We are really happy with our training camp. This Friday we will close the hardest stage, during the public training. This has been one of the best preparations I've ever had, and I will prove it by defeating Fonfara,” pledged Chavez Jr.

You think Fonfara beats him? I doubt that.

I believe Junior's whole career is nothing short of a Hollywood production. He was protected and handed his WBC belt on a silver platter. He was then shown to be a lazy reefer smokin knucklehead who didn't want to listen to Roach before he got his a$$ handed to him by the overrated Sergio. I wouldn't be surprised if that was all just part of the Oscar worthy show to cover up the fact that he simply isn't very good.

Here is something else to think on. The Pavlik-Martinez fight was even going into the final four rounds before Kelly got cut. After the fight Pavlik moved up and was never ranked by the Ring at 168. Junior gets his a$$ handed to him by the same fighter and moves up and is automatically ranked at 168 without ever fighting within the division. Dang, it must be hell to be dragged around on daddies coattails??

Chavez Jr. is in tough. Surprised this fight hasn't gotten more attention especially with Chavez's popularity.
