how are you going to say Martinez was overrated ? I know people like you don't know nothing about boxing cause you have never stepped into a ring you just judge these fighter not knowing what they go through its easy to talk when your outside looking in. Sergio Martinez was a gifted fighter the stuff that he was able to do in the ring you can't teach he was just physically gifted. But you wouldn't know about that.

I wouldn't be surprised if that was all just part of the Oscar worthy show to cover up the fact that he simply isn't very good.

Here is something else to think on. The Pavlik-Martinez fight was even going into the final four rounds before Kelly got cut. After the fight Pavlik moved up and was never ranked by the Ring at 168. Junior gets his a$$ handed to him by the same fighter and moves up and is automatically ranked at 168 without ever fighting within the division. Dang, it must be hell to be dragged around on daddies coattails??

Gotta disagree 100% about Martinez being overrated. Sergio was very good during his run.

Chavez Jr looks relatively thin, you can see it in his face. Could be a sign that he took training seriously this time.

Even though I think hes a puss for ducking ggg and a career high payday and running al haymon, I have to say he looks focused and in great shape. Fonfara will be a real good test for him. Joe goosen is one of the best trainers in the world. I hope Chavez Jr. Gets iced but he should be able to win if hes really a top 172 pounder lmao

Yes. Jr's career is a joke. Weight drains himself, misses weight, smokes pot, skips training with Roach for the most important fight of his life to train in his living room, has never legitimately been touched by someone close to his size. I don't see him lasting more than 9 rounds.

His training camp didn't look too intense here, but who knows. He's got a massive chin with fast hands. Fonfara's being brought down 3lbs, been KO'd before, and isn't the biggest of punchers. Still like Fonfara, but could definitely see Chavez take a decision and continue his streak of wins over white guys.

Sergio beat a one dimensional Pavlik who had major personal problems. He beat Paul Williams who was in my opinion one of the most overrated fighters in the history of the the sport. He beat a fighter that happens to share a famous name and if he didn't he would be looked at as the very average fighter that he actually is. He also beat a couple of domestic level European fighters. He than gets beat by a washed up fighter that should be retired. With that said I believe that he did have a good run that was way overrated.
