Also being "undressed" can be psychologically damaging to certain fighters, esp the real macho/ showoff type fighters

"Quitting" can also be bad...but that is a gray area for me depending on the nature of the fight

The way Pacman lost to Marquez, that was brutal.

It was absolutely brutal. But lets say Pac just gets white washed for 12 rounds against JMM -- looking old and terrible and punching at air. And getting blasted with counters every single time he let go. For all 12 rounds. That would be worse. Sure, the worldwide meme explosion wouldn't have happened, but if Marquez just boxed circle after circle around Manny for 12 straight rounds...Manny would've had to retire after that.

At least after a KO, even a brutal one like that, Manny could still just say that I got caught. It happens in boxing. You can't say anything after a 12 round white washing. There's no going back to the drawing board after that.

getting undressed, bloodied, and forced to fight off the back foot for the majority of the fight is worse than simply getting ko'd, imo. you got caught, it happens. garcia-herrera comes to mind.
