I don't believe Rios and Alvarado were ever on PPV. I didn't even watch two of them. Pacquaio-Marquez 5 is a PPV fight because they are actually massive names and PPV fighters.I have never paid for a PPV since Pac-Hatton...I stream them so no..I'm not being mugged off...but I'm sure you'd rather give your money to watch two punching bags in Rios vs Alvarado go back and forth pointlessly 3 times? Or Pacquiao fight Marquez for the 5th time?
This fight actually matters for boxing
P.s Giroud is ****
Matters for boxing? LOL....it's a bog standard mandatory title defence
P.S Giroud has the highest goals to games ratio in the Premiership this season and is a sexy bastard. The total package. Jealousy isn't a good thing.Comment

Will it though? Sky are pretty good at pushing a product. It's a pity they don't release PPV numbers regularly.Comment

This seems a little short sighted by both Matchroom and Sky. I understand that Sky wants PPV events to generate revenue this year and Matchroom have assured them that they can deliver (akin to writing cheques that you can't cash 'cause Khan and Frampton cleary aren't dancing to Eddy's tune. And why should they?). As a consequence of that Hearn now finds himself in a desperate situation.
What's called for here is flexibility by both parties. Few of us can begrudge PPV events when the fight warrants it as it puts extra hard earned cash in the fighters pockets. But this one is coming off the back of Bellew Cleverly II which was a hustle from the outset. It took advantage of the core fanbases near addiction to the sport and advantage of the casual fan's gullibility and lack off knowledge.
Ever casual fan I spoke to about paying for that fight was understandably unhappy about it. They knew they'd been hustled. When you're in the business of hustling people (and all big time boxing promoters are) you don't burn your mark twice in a row. It's a piss poor long term strategy.
Sky and Matchroom should focus on what they have to do to build regular audiences for Box Office events. They got burned badly with Haye Vs Harrison and that put PPV to bed for a long while. Antagonising the casual fans isn't the way to go about reintroducing it. There's only so much leeway a couple of Froch headlined cards will give them, and it's running thin.Comment

Whats even more annoying is that they already have a PPV in May with Mayweather vs. Pacquaio.
Talk about maximizing your revenue
How many casuals are gonna pay 40-50 quid in one month for a card at 5am, and a card that shouldnt be PPV?
