Eddie Hearn and The State of British Boxing

He is definitely obsessed with that big stadium domestic dust-up. He knows they are safe matches as even the loser will still remain relevant to the casual and might even prompt a rematch.
If Khan outpointed Brook it wouldn't be too damaging for Brook or Hearn. However, if Brook went to America and got wrecked by Keith Thurman? What would they do then? Nobody apart from hardcore boxing fans in this country know who that guy is. And that Stadium fight would be gone for Brook.
Kell Brook is all of a sudden the golden goose as is Anthony Joshua. I would worry about Anthony Joshua's development now. He is Hearn's pension.
Initially I thought it was great that Hearn was signing all these fighters making domestic dust-ups more likely. And to be fair the fights that can be made at British title level are still very good. But if he is under so much pressure to deliver stadium fights in the short term he needs good world champions'. And there are a lot of good British fighters but world class fighters? Not loads.
I like Mitchell a lot but he is probably going to get knocked out in his title tilt isn't he? And Lee Selby probably couldn't sell out his front room. He is not going to be a PPV fighter ever.
Hearn is going to end up trying to make a PPV out of Luke Campbell and Tommy Coyle!
If Kevin Mitchell wins that would be a shot in the arm for him.Comment

Well he's doing a bad job of making those fights isn't he still mentioning his ****** 60-40 to the winner split. Not to mention 2 of those fighters hate him so much they don't want to put more money in his pocket and the others manager is in the same boat. Promoting is about building relationships not burning every bridge you come to.Comment

Absolutely laughable
He goes on about how if Carl Frampton is so confident of winning (on a Matchroom show away from home), that he should take 60/40 to the winner.
By the same token Eddie, if Scott Quigg is so confident of winning, why doesn't he give Frampton the lion's share he deserves and then put in a rematch clause and Quigg makes more for the rematch?
Bottom line is that Framtpon is the bigger name and the bigger draw by a long long way. Eddie Hearn knows that and has made a complete mug of himself by trying to begin the negotiations at 50/50.Comment

Yeah he really needs Degale and Mitchell to win. Maybe they can build Selby in Wales now that they have Clev (he could beat Braehmer for his fake belt if he is not shot). He is definitely obsessed with that big stadium domestic dust-up. In some situations, he is right. In others he is wrong and allowing his ego to control negotiations even when he is not the A-side.Comment

To be fair £1.5 million is a lot of money.
I can't even see how they are offering that much to be honest.
Quigg is a problem too. Dirk has touched on it but Quigg is a bit specialist. Bless him but he is.
He is not going to talk anyone sat on the fence into staying in on a Saturday night to watch him and shell out money for the honour.Comment

i dont know.. i kind of agree with your post dirk but i think eddie is coming in for a bit of unfair stick on this frampton situation... he's explicitly said he's offered the fight to mcguigan on a co promotion basis, 60/40 winner, he's said they're up for negotiations and he's asked them make an offer which they're not doing so what more do they want..?Comment
