Double world champion Guillermo Rigondeaux has challenged Scott Quigg to a super-bantamweight unification fight in June.
Rigondeaux holds the WBO belt and the 'Super' version of the WBA title, while Bury's Quigg is the WBA's ordinary world champion.
The Miami-based southpaw's manager Gary Hyde last month wrote to the WBA asking for a mandatory defence against Quigg, who has instead been pursuing Belfast's IBF champion Carl Frampton.
Quigg's promoter Eddie Hearn this week offered Frampton a £1.5m purse, an offer that was immediately rejected.
