33 in Kazakh years = 65 in USA years. He's actually older than BHop.

Unifying and becoming lineal champ does mean something, it always has. If a man clears out a division winning all the titles in the process, it leaves no doubt. Not many fighters do that these days.
These days? How about ever? The only person to unify all FOUR titles, five if RING is included, is Hopkins. The next person to achieve this landmark may be Kovalev if he ever manages to get Stevenson in the ring. Yes, there were undisputed champions before Hopkins but that was before there were 4 legitimate titles to hold. Being able to unify all 4 titles is not an easy or simple thing today with certain fighters unable to fight other champions due to politics.

If Golovkin can manage to achieve that, it will be something to put him in the record books. And that is something to be very proud of and deserving of recognition.

I've got more respect for a guy who clears out his division and unifies the belts that someone who cherry picks paper titles at multiple weight classes. Now if he cleans out the division and then hides out for 3 1/2 years, calling out smaller fighters and weight draining larger ones, he'll lose me as a fan.

There is no reason at all for GGG to move up to SMW, especially when the competition there will not be any more profitable than continuing to fight at MW. Not to mention that all the worthwhile fighters at SMW already have fights scheduled for the foreseeable future.

So if he was to move up, he would have no better opponents than he has at the moment at MW.

If there is anyone at all to blame for his lack of quality opposition, it is the other fighters who are too cowardly to get in the ring with him. As far as I am concerned, Willie Monroe has more balls than Quillin, Canelo and Cotto combined.
          SMW division > MW division

But Golovkin is not a SMW. For him to move up, it should be either a one time thing or a permanent move. Moving back and forth is not good for his health or anyone else's. A permanent move would allow him to put the extra weight on as muscle, not simply fat tissue. Gaining and losing muscle mass is not an easy thing to do nor is it a recommended thing to do health wise.

So let GGG achieve the goal he is pursuing at MW and when he is ready he will move to SMW. What's the rush? It's not like he cleaned out his division and has been basically sitting on his ass for the last 3.5 years like Ward or something. The guy is out there fighting 4 times per year. HE isn't ducking anyone.
