Frankie Gavin is a bad proposition in terms of risk/reward. Lot's of people already dissing him because he's not well known, but he's a very talented fighter hence IBF final eliminator & Olympic Gold. Brook would win, but it won't be an easy fight and won't do anything for his career.

Kell should make a statement by beating somebody Khan has avoided or struggled against. Maidana would be my choice in terms of style and given Maidana's recent exposure against Mayweather. It's a better fight than Thurman.

Brook beats Berto and schools Gavin.

Both fights are low risk, low reward in reality.

I can't really blame Brook too much, a Rios fight would be interesting, so would Bradley.

But everyone knows the real fight is Khan, and everybody knows what Khan thinks about that...

Brook Gavin is an absolute joke of a fight looks like Brooks reign of terror has truly begun.

That's very naïve. Berto is a big, strong ex-champ and seasoned campaigner. He's been in with much better opposition that Kell's faced. Gavin is very skilful but unknown & underrated. If Kell beats him with a solid performance people say it was an easy win. If he struggles people will say Kell's overrated. Both come with significant risk in different ways.

Looks like we're on the same page for the most part, Wicky.

Now that the Gavin fight is confirmed, I'm 95% sure Brook will win but Gavin has the style & approach to make it hard work and to make Brook look bad. Berto appears to be a little shopworn and is a much bigger name, so would have made more sense in many ways.

I look forward to Brook's July opponent. JMM, Thurman or Maidana would be great but it sounds like it will be Rios. Good fighter, but he's a gatekeeper at WW and Brook will handle him fairly comfortably.

Will be a bit disappointing if his next 2 fights are Gavin & Rios when you look at the possibilities in the other matchups.

He'll beat both but in terms of style I think Brook will look much better against Rios than Gavin. Glad Frankie's getting a shot but can't help feeling cynical about Hearn's motives on this one.

Given the IBF are trying to match Bradley for a final eliminator, I reckon we'll see Gavin, Rios then Bradley as a mandatory. It's a shame because Brook Maidana is the fight I'd most like to see other than Brook Khan.

Totally agree about Rios being a gatekeeper at 147. A solid & durable B level but totally outgunned against Brook.
